Mitch Hodge

Background

I started lifting weight around age 10 or 11. I played football and ran track in high school, but bodybuilding was my passion. My first show was the Teen Mr. Idaho in 1982. After some serious setbacks I began competing steady from 1986 to 1993. I had some good success and had some pictures in Muscle and Fitness as well as some TV stuff. Lifting weights and competing in bodybuilding has always been a saving grace for me. Many times life seems to get confusing but my time in the gym helped give me focus.

After a six year competitive layoff I returned to compete in the 1998 Seattle Ironman, placing second in a tough heavyweight class. Then to 6th in the Mr. America. In 1999 I returned to the last Mr. America (The AAU has discontinued it's long association with bodybuilding) and placed 7th.

I now use my muscle to do feats of strength with The Power Team as well as a school assembly program here in Idaho. I am currently a Youth Pastor and use the message of strength to promote the Gospel. I have had a radio program on Christian radio promoting health and fitness. I currently travel the country teaching kids about right choices and preaching Jesus. Right now my life is the best it's ever been.

If you have questions about anything, from problems with your diet to problems at school, work or home I'll do whatever I can to help. You can e-mail me and I'll get back to you. God Bless and remember the motto: Never Give Up!
