 Why I Got Started
It was my senior year at the University of Nevada, Reno. Fall semester started and for some reason I just felt my life slipping away. The previous 3 years had been detrimental both physically and now mentally. My football career had been stopped due to what was then called a career ending shoulder injury, but what I experienced that fall semester took the fall in my career even further. It was time to go home for Thanksgiving break, 2008, and I looked at myself in the mirror and realized that over the past 4 months, anorexia had taken over and consumed my body along with depression. I weighed in at 120 pounds during this time. Over the next two months, rehab and therapy followed, with the support of my family I would slowly make gains, but nothing significant.
When I went back for spring semester, 2009, I only gained 5-6 pounds and therapy, although working, seemed to lose its potency. Then I found Bodybuilding.com. I learned and found individuals who shared the same problems as me. I found I was not alone in the world, that solution and alternative means to curing my issues existed. I actively engaged in conversations in the forum with others and read through much of the articles, and information, available through the SuperSite. By May graduation my weight was up to around 170 pounds, I was eating again but more importantly it seemed my life was coming back together again.
As Bodybuilding.com motivated me to get my body back in order, it also motivated me to resurrect what had been a football career that had been on a 4-year hiatus. I had not played a down of football since our 2005 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl against Central Florida. Since then injuries and anorexia, as previously stated, halted my career dead in its tracks. So in July, of 2009, my pursuit to play again started thanks to Bodybuilding.com. By October, I had got my body back up to about 200-205 pounds and with the help of former coaches and family, started making contacts with professional teams for playing opportunities. By the end of October I had been given an opportunity to play in the newly-formed European Federation of American Football, with the best team in all of Spain, Badalona Dracs. By January 2010, I had been signed and was boarding my plane to Barcelona, Spain, to play the sport I loved again. Bodybuilding.com saved my life, but more importantly it showed me there is nothing more powerful than the will of a determined individual. Bodybuilding.com made me remember that if we work hard, our dreams can be realities. Through 3 games here in Spain I am the team leading tackler, as well as the premier wide receiver in our league. The information on the SuperSite and help I got from individuals in the forum made this all possible, thank you Bodybuilding.com!

 How I Did It
It all started with the support of my family and closest friends. They made me realize that my issues had grown out of my control. After Christmas break I promised my grandmother I would seek medical help and receive therapy and rehab. It was a day-to-day battle I thought would never end, but as each day ended, the next one became easier. After graduation in May of 2009, from the University of Nevada, Reno, I was nowhere near being in any neither physical, nor mental condition to play football. My former coach, Angelo Jackson, and teammate, Shane Jackson, convinced me to try football one more time. So my total body transformation began mid-July 2009. By then I was 175-180 pounds, but I knew I needed to put on much more if I was really going to return to the playing fields. For 4 months, I blasted my body with a single body part training regimen, getting myself to roughly 230 pounds. Then when I signed my contract to play with Badalona Dracs, member of the newly formed EFAF, professional football league in Europe and top team in Spain, I needed to trim down and get ready to play. I started the University of Florida Gator Training Manual, both gym and speed workouts. By the time I departed to Spain mid-January, I was 215 pounds, chiseled, and ready to make an impact on the European American Football scene. Today, I am a leader and top player for one of the most respected teams in all of Europe. Now my next goal, return to where I know I should be, the NFL.

 Suggestions For Others
In life we often fall, but it is not how or what tripped us up, it is about how fast we are able to get back up. I would be lying if I said this transformation was easy, but the support of my family, members of my brotherhood Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, and the wonderful information I found on Bodybuilding.com made it all that much more easier. Never give up on your dreams and aspirations. No matter how big the hole you dig, there is always a way out if you're willing to try! Thank you for your time.
