"All the world's a gym," someone once paraphrased. A killer workout can happen without the bench or dumbbells. Get out of the crowded club, take advantage of the summer weather, and challenge yourself with some intense outdoor training!

Some of my best and most exhilarating workouts have been outside. I've learned to use the land as my training ground, the sun as my inspiration. I use mountain trails, sand and even water to get my heart pumping. I hit the track to practice intervals, hops and jumps. You name it, it's in my program.

These workouts aren't easy, short, or something you can do with your newb buddy. They're meant to test your endurance, strength and mental toughness. They're meant to destroy fat and build bodies. I feel like super girl when I do these workouts. Nobody can stop me!

Swim/Run

For this workout, I've combined military training with some of my favorite activities. If you aren't ready to drop when you're done with this workout, you're doing it wrong.

  • 1000 Meter Swim, 2 minute break
  • Pushups 2 minutes, 2 minute break
  • Crunches 2 minutes, 5 minute break
  • 4 Mile Run

Track Training

Do these workouts separately to replace your usual daily cardio. Or, if you're feeling like a boss, rest between each workout and do them as one session! Whatever you choose, be ready to work.

  • Sprint straight-aways, Jog curves
  • 10 burpees at the beginning of each straight-away, Sprint straight-aways, Jog curves
  • 100 meters body weight walking lunges, 100 meters high skips around curves, 100 meters side shuffle, 100 meters run backwards

Super Sprint

Even if you aren't a triathlete, this brick workout is fun, exciting and absolutely tough. If you don't live near a beach, find terrain that will challenge your normal running stride. Mud, dirt, rocks and sand provide an extra test for your strength and endurance.

  • 10 mile road bike
  • 1.5 mile run to beach
  • 500 meter swim
  • 1.5 mile run back from beach
  • 10 mile bike back to home
  • Barbell Squat 100
  • Pushups 50
  • Crunches 75
