[ Q ] How Did You Get Started?
-
As a
personal trainer and Aerobic Instructor 15 years ago, I always wanted to
compete but never had the time to really start
training seriously, until a health problem force me to change my
eating habits and my body started to change drastically until I decided to get ready a year ahead for a competition and have been doing it since then. This is my lifestyle!
[ Q ] What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
-
Since I switched from Bodybuilding to Figure I had to lose volume in my
legs to achiev it I train with really high reps and sets, during off season I do 5 sets of 30 reps in basic excercises like
leg curl,
leg press, and then 50 to 60 of walking or
stationary lunges. Getting ready for a show I go up in reps and sets to really trim down and do a lot of Giant or Super Set, and I keep my upper body:
shoulders and
arms heavy.
I do cardio 5 days a week 1 hour and for competition twice a day 30 minutes the second cardio. My week traininig is:
[ Q ] What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

[ Q ] Why Do You Love Fitness?
-
Fitness is my business and most of all is my lifestyle. Eating
healthy meals and
exercise should be a part of everybody's life. I have a better quality of life having a healthy living style through fitness. And being able to take this message to my clients is my
goal, and every time they achieved their goals with my help I feel like it's me who gains more because it means I did something right that stuck with them. A little seed was planted and they gave it chance and the outcome was sometimes better than we expected.
[ Q ] What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?
-
As I mentioned before, having health problems so young with my stomach forced me to change all my eating habits. I didn't want to be using prescriptions all the time. I knew that for me to achieve that I had to relearn how to eat, and the pounds started to shed little by little.
I always wanted to be a bodybuilder and compete. I saw all the changes my body went through, and every day I was feeling and looking better so I decided to do it. But it wasn't until my 30's that I really started to get ready, you can say it was a little late but that didn't stop me and still today at 40 years old I feel and look better than when I was 20, and every time I go to a show and see women of 35, 45 and 50 competing this reassures me that's never too late to achieve your dreams, so that really keeps me motivated.
[ Q ] What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?
-
When you really want something so bad, and time goes by and you still want to do it, or you put it in the back burner for a while and you think its forgotten, no, when you least expect it fall again in your lap and sometimes it unfolds by itself we just have to pay attention to all the signs. That's what happened with me when I was about to give up and not compete any more, I got a suggestion to switch categories from bodybuilding to Figure and I have to say it's been a blessing, I have been able to represent my country Puerto Rico in International events with our Bodybuilding Federation placing top 5 in my category and also Qualify for Nationals in US that's when it was more than clear that my goal is to become IFBB PRO Figure Athlete in 2010.
[ Q ] What Are Your Future Fitness Plans?
-
I started to get ready again to compete next year in the Europa Super Show in Orlando, qualify again and go to Nationals to become pro. As a business woman I want to take my company Figure and Fitness Lifestyle -n- More to the next level, launching my cloth line, supplements, and now in December I'm thrill to announce my Angel Fit Calendar for 2010, and I just updated my webpage:
www.francesanza.com
You can say I'm a Fitness Entrepreneur in Puerto Rico and US.
[ Q ] What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?
-
The same one I pass on to my clients that I'm also training for competitions on 2010: How bad you really want this, make it picture clear and visualize it happening and then; Just do it no excuse, for every rep, set, cardio you don't do there's another competitor out there doing one more than you.
