How Did You Get Started?

I have always been athletic. When I was young I worked reigning & cutting horses on my parents ranch in New Mexico. Then I started competitive skiing, becoming a scholarship athlete at UNM on the Ski Team. While during a GS competition I tore several ligaments in my ankle and back making it hard to ski. Thus, I had to quit. Before long I found myself back in the gym training, and people would ask if I was a bodybuilder. Not knowing what that was at the time, I decided to give it a try. I entered my first show, the Boulder Bodybuilding Championships and won my weight class. "Cool, I can do this!" I said, and then I got more involved with weightlifting and bodybuilding. It's been an interesting road to say the least. But, things worked out for the best and it's a fun industry to be in if, again, IF you keep your head and don't get pulled into the things that go behind close doors.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I trained ONE body part a day, cardio twice a day with a high protein, high fat & low carb diet.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Whey Protein, I usually take 200 grams of Protein off-season & up it to 325 grams when I'm dieting for a show. I stack that with Acetabolan or Cytodyne, HMB and lot's of L-Glutamine. And let's not forget Saw Palmetto, Vitamin C, and a strong B-Complex. I also like taking either Ultimate Orange or ISS Orange Blast to crank up the weights during workouts!

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love what lifting weights enables you to create with your physique. To be part of a click or fraternity that many dream about being part of but will only dream about. Being a hard-core competitive bodybuilder puts me in the same category as those who've played college football. The difference from those who have been at a higher level and those who talk the talk. You are only in if you've walked the walk. And especially all the great people that I have meet in the sport; Jon Lindsay, Don Ross, Jeff Taylor, Bob Bonham, Bev Francis, Bill Jentz, and many, many others.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

Currently, I'm going to sit back and wait and see what they do to women's bodybuilding. Last time I competed when they screwed with judging and women's bodybuilding (1992) and I got very messed up in the head, almost lost my soul and my marriage because of their up-and-down course of action. They (the NPC) can't stick to their judging. I know several girls who had great careers ahead of them and they got so messed up they quit because of what 1992 did to them, and this current change in women's bodybuilding is no different than then. So, I'm going to wait until things settle down and they get back to "Bodybuilding!" Then and only then will I compete again. So, soon.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

DO NOT ask the judges what you need to do. Especially if you ask more then one, you'll get two different answers. Just compete the way you want to compete.
