How Did You Get Started?

I got started lifting between my sophomore and junior years in High School while preparing for football. I fell in love with it and entered my first Bodybuilding contest in 1979.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I've always stuck to some form of the "push/pull" system. I normally try to work legs by themselves. My training is usually cycled with "three on, one off and two on". I've found moderate to heavy weight works best for me with three to four exercises per bodypart and rep ranges 8 to 12.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I'm very strict with my nutrition plan, both on and off season. The diet will make or break you. I keep my protein intake fairly high with at least 1 1/2 gram protein per lb off bodyweight in the off-season. During the pre-contest phase of my diet I will increase the protein to 2 grams per lb of bodyweight. I keep the carbohydrate intake low. I try to consume most of my complex carbs before noon each day and consume mostly fibrous carbs the rest of the day. Most of the carbs are low glycemic. My body responds well to a 60% protein 25% carb 15% fat ratio.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I think that Creatine and Glutamine have helped me the most. Protein Powders and MRP's play a major role in my diet.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I enjoy the preparation and the discipline that Bodybuilding requires. It's really about competing with yourself, and striving to make improvements each time out. I've also met a bunch of great people through the years and traveled to different parts of the country that I probably would have never seen if not for competitive Bodybuilding. It also gives me an opportunity to use my God given abilities to help promote a healthy lifestyle. I really enjoy assisting others in achieving their goals and "sharing" the things that I've learned through the years.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I'm currently training for the NPC National Masters Championships being held in Pittsburgh, PA in July. I've been competing in this event the past two years and feel fortunate and "blessed" to have finished second both times. I'd love to move it up one spot this year!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

BE PATIENT! Bodybuilding takes time, and the "short cuts" that everyone are looking for often times involve taking unnecessary health risk. Stay consistent with your training and diet. Keep a goal in front of you and you can be successful in this sport!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I've always admired Lee Labrada, he had one of the most "complete" physiques ever.
