How Did You Get Started?

I was always pretty heavy growing up so I started lifting weights at age 17 to drop some weight and get in better shape. For the next 10 years I lifted off and on, usually working out for a year or so and then taking 4 or 5 months off. While I was lifting I would prescribe to the 'more is better' theory which often would result in overtraining, and never followed a strict diet plan. About a year ago, I decided to rethink my training philosophy and began to follow a more strict nutrition and supplement plan.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

When I first started lifting I always followed a 5 on, 2 off, schedule taking the weekends off. For the last year I've followed a 3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off schedule:

  • Thur. - bi's, shoulders, abs
  • Fri. - legs, cardio
  • Sat. - back, abs
  • Sun. - off
  • Mon. - chest, tri's
  • Tues. - cardio, abs
  • Wed. - off
I train heavy and intensly 4 out of the 5 days (one day is dedicated to abs and cardio) and eat as clean as possible 6 days a week, with one 'cheat' day (Sunday).

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

The supplements that I use daily, year-round are Optimum 100% Whey Protein, Myoplex, CLA, and a Multi-Vitamin. I will add other supplements occasionaly depending on my goal at the time, for example creatine, prohormones, or thermogenics.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because it gives me a definite sense of self achievement. There is nothing better then seeing results from the dedication, discipline, and hard work in and out of the gym.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

After leaning out a bit for the summer, I plan on putting on as much solid weight as I can over the following 6 months and seeing where that takes me.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Go to the gym ready to work, not to show off or socialize... and train with intensity and with a purpose, if you have trouble doing this on your own, get someone to workout with...my training partner, PJ is great at keeping me focused and pushing me on those days when I lack a little motivation...and be consistent, both in the gym and just as important, out of the gym with your diet and lifestyle.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Definitely Arnold Schwarzenegger number one, Kevin Levrone, and Jay Cutler.
