Summer is definitely around the corner. It's still not too late to shed a few pounds before we shed our winter clothes. How long have you been thinking about starting an exercise program? Stop procrastinating and get moving.
You owe it to yourself to get fit. Maybe you are not sure where to begin. There are professional people out there that are more than willing to help you get started. You must make the effort to get the ball rolling. They are not going to come looking for you. If you are not a member of a local gym or health club, do yourself a favor and get a membership. Most facilities offer some sort of initial free training to help you get acclimated to the environment. This will also give you confidence to use the equipment without feeling nervous or insecure. Believe me the hardest part is getting started and making that commitment to yourself. Once you do that the rest is a learning adventure.
Training is a progressive learning experience. I still learn new things myself. Nobody knows everything there is to know. Trust me; every trainer has their own way of doing things. You just need to find the right trainer to fit your needs. How Do I Find The Right Trainer?
Training has to be somewhat fun. If it isn't fun, it isn't getting done! This is where a trainer can come in handy. They can design different routines to fit your changing needs. It also eliminates the boredom syndrome.
Doing different routines help to keep you focused and motivated. If you do the same thing over and over pretty soon you will only be going through the motions. This will annihilate your results. Then you will get discouraged and may want to quit. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Training is no different, for anyone, no matter what level of fitness. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get the results you are after. It doesn't happen over night either. You must be patient and focus on one workout at a time. Forget the big picture. Focus on the now, be in the moment.
Are you convinced yet? If not, its time to take inventory in your life. What I mean by that is you must first define your goals. Next, how many times per week can you realistically devote to training?
Lastly, what can you afford as far as memberships go? I can tell you from my experience a yearly plan is the least expensive. Basically, the more time you purchase, the cheaper the rate. Most gyms have monthly payment plans that make it affordable for most people.
Once you figure out the latter, go visit a few different facilities. See what the atmosphere is like. If you are not comfortable in the environment chances are you will never go, no matter what membership you buy. Purchasing a membership does not guarantee results. Only you have control over that. I always tell people "I can help you if you want to be helped." If a person doesn't really want to be helped then there is nothing I can do for them. You must be a willing participant.
I wish I had a magic wand. There is no magic here. It's just plain hard work. Don't think about this for another six months. Time is going to pass you by no matter what. You might as well be exercising. Just think how fabulous you could look and feel in just six months. Summer is coming. Are you ready?
