Have you competed in a National show before? If so, which one(s)? This will be my first National Show.

How have you structured choreographing, practicing, and perfecting your fitness routine for the USA's? Growing up I was a gymnast and cheerleader and later a gymnastics and All Star cheerleading coach, so I have a great deal of background in choreography. I made up my routine and have been working on perfecting it in my gym's aerobics room for several months. I love practicing my routine - especially with the high level of difficulty. I am back to throwing tricks that I have not done since I was 10! Talk about great cardio!

In regards to physique, how do you plan to come in for the USA's? I plan to be in the best condition of my life. I specifically decided to forgo Jr. Nationals to devote all of my time and energy to preparation for the USA's. I used the off time to work on further developing my physique and hope the judges are looking for the total package, because that is what I plan to bring.

What are your personal goals for the USA's? You never know what a show will bring until you get there. I have worked very hard to be at my personal best. My goal is to place with the top competitors, but of course I am crossing my fingers for one of the coveted Pro Cards. I wouldn't mind hitting a Vegas jackpot either! After all, I am bringing my lucky charms along for the trip - my one year old son Tre and my husband (I mean trainer), Rick.

Have you competed in a National show before? If so, which one(s)? I competed in the USA's in 2003.

How have you structured choreographing, practicing, and perfecting your fitness routine for the USA's? I choreograph all of my own routines and do a lot of mental imaging practice. I am ecstatic with my costuming and music and am ready to rock and roll. I start to choreograph skill sequences as soon as my show is done for the next one. My ideas come at all times of the day so I never leave home without my notebook!

In regards to physique, how do you plan to come in for the USA's? As far as my physique goes, my goals for this off-season and my main focuses were simply to be consistent and bring some more muscle maturity to the stage. I am very happy with my lines and am about two weeks ahead of the game with my conditioning. I'm coming in the best I could possibly look so to me I have already achieved everything I've set out to do. You can't ask for more than your best.

What are your personal goals for the USA's? Aside from coming in at my absolute best as we all know the main objective is to take home one of the 6 prestigious pro cards. I've had the best mentors throughout my career, them being my fiance and trainer Tony Dodd, Kim Oddo, John Lindsay and my family. They have all been so supportive have allowed me to succeed in all aspects of life. I really want to bring the sport of fitness back to life and am only looking up from here. Good luck to all competitors this year!

Now, I love breaking down personal limitations and stepping out of my comfort zones. So, if you've ever thought about competing, just do it! You'll realize how capable you are to do what ever you set your sights on!

Age: 18
Years Competing: 3 years with the NPC

  • 2003 South Carolina Highschool Fitness Championships - Overall
  • 2003 NPC Teen National Fitness Championships - Overall

Have you competed in a National show before? If so, which one(s)? Yes, the 2003 NPC Teen National Fitness Championships.

How have you structured choreographing, practicing, and perfecting your fitness routine for the USA's? Mon through Fri I am devoted to my weight training. I save the weekends for practicing and perfecting my fitness routine

In regards to physique, how do you plan to come in for the USA's? Due to the fact that I am lacking the "muscle maturity" which will come in time...I plan to come in at a bodyfat of about 8-9%, which is realistic for me at this point of my development and conditioning.

What are your personal goals for the USA's? Get a taste of what its like to compete on a national level (see if i can hang w/ the big girls) Gain some exposure and come in as polished as i can be. This year will not be so much about placings but more of leaving an impression for what to watch out for in the future!

Comments No matter what...this show will be a positive learning experience and a great tool for me to reflect on as I prepare for the following competitive season.

Kimberley Lynn

Name: Kimberley Lynn
Location: Bellevue, WA
Age: 31
Years Competing: First Year Competing

Titles Won:

Have you competed in a National show before? If so, which one(s)? No.

How have you structured choreographing, practicing, and perfecting your fitness routine for the USA's? The biggest show and accomplishment so far in my last 3 shows has been placing 5th at the Emeralc Cup. I was a gymnast and dancer from age 5, so my fitness routine is so much fun for me!

I had two severe ankle sprains in 2002 that kept me from first competing, so with this years routine I"m taking my gymnastic elements very simple and clean, and just adding a lot of pizazz to my performance.

In regards to physique, how do you plan to come in for the USA's? My physique is where I'm looking to make the most improvements over the next year. I just signed on with Max Muscle to work on bringing me into shows a bit leaner.

I think I'll be pretty close to where I need to be, I have good symmetry and overall muscle mass, I just need to lean out, especially the ever challenging legs!

What are your personal goals for the USA's? My goal for USA's is just to have fun, be competitive and get some good exposure; and to see how I fare at a national level show so I can make improvements before Dallas!

Allison Daughtry

  • 2002 NC State - 2nd place Figure
  • 2002 Metrolina - 2nd place Fitness Short class
  • 1999 Metrolina - 4th place Fitness Short class

Have you competed in a National show before? If so, which one(s)? Yes, Nationals 2002, and 2003 3 and Jr. USA's 2003

How have you structured choreographing, practicing, and perfecting your fitness routine for the USA's? Jen Hendershot was nice enough to work with me in regards to my routine. I do my cardio training in the morning and practice my routine after work during the week. I alternate between a gymnastics studio and a local Gold's Gym aerobics room.

On the weekends I use those facilities as their schedule allows. When having a job that runs 9-6, it is hard to find time to practice, you just have to make time.

In regards to physique, how do you plan to come in for the USA's? I learned a lot about my body last year and will apply that knowledge to come in 1-2% leaner than last year. I had good callouts last year based off my physique.

After speaking with the judges post show, I improved on the area's they mentioned. By doing that I can only hope for better callouts this year.

What are your personal goals for the USA's? In 2002 I placed 13th at Nationals. In 2003 I placed 3rd at Nationals and placed 1st at Jr. USA's. In 2004 I'm hoping to earn my pro card. All the girls put in a lot of time in effort in preparing for a show of this caliber.

Like them, I will go out and do my best. As long as I perform to the best of my ability, then I can't be upset with myself. Hopefully on the night of July 17th, that hard work will be rewarded with an IFBB pro card.

Comments Best of Luck to all the competitors? see you in Vegas! :)

I believe that this change contributed to my 3rd place ranking at the JR Nats a month ago, last year I placed 11th. I hope this luck continues to the USA's with a high placing. Last year I placed 16th.

Conclusion

I'll be in Vegas reporting on the show and will be taking photos. Best of luck to all the competitors and I'm looking forward to seeing another awesome show. Anyone who has been to USAs knows that this is clearly one of the best shows of the year.

Fitness competitors work extremely hard to come in for these national level shows with a well-conditioned, symmetrical, muscular yet feminine physique, as well as to perform a high-energy fitness routine that showcases astounding feats of strength and flexibility, choreographed and practiced to perfection. We congratulate all of these girls and wish them and all USA competitors the best of luck at this esteemed event.
