Body Transformation: Tyler Dickenson Is Strong To The Core!

Tyler's college wrestling career ended with injury and drove him into depression. See how the Cellucor Strong To The Cor Challenge brought him back to fitness!

Why I decided to transform

College wrestling was my life. I trained very intensely and lived a healthy, athletic, and fit lifestyle for my sport. My hard work paid off during my senior year of college and I started to make a name for myself. I was ranked 13th nationally and was in position to push for an All-American year.

Unfortunately, I blew my knee out halfway into the season. After several weeks of trying to wrestle on a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus, I was unable to compete and my season ended.

I went into a serious depression. I tried to practice positivity and mental toughness, but I was crushed. I lost my purpose. Time passed and I stayed active but my intensity was diminished and my physique began to fade.

Then I came across the Cellucor Strong To The Cor 6-Week Challenge and decided it would be a great opportunity to get back in shape and compete for great prizes. The Cellucor Challenge gave me purpose and a reason to eat healthy and train like an animal.

I didn't win the challenge, but I'm glad I did it for many reasons. My relationship with my girlfriend really benefited. She was my training partner and we had a great time working out together. Outside of the gym, we created healthy recipes and cooked together. She made the process lots of fun.

I was really happy with my results and they gave me lots of confidence. Any time you set your mind to something and follow through with it, you're going to feel good about yourself.

How I accomplished my goals

There are two known factors that determine an individual's results: diet and training. Wrestling gave me a good, strong foundation to work out hard. I stuck with most of my training principles, lifted heavy, trained to failure, and incorporated dropsets and supersets. The one tweak I made to my training was to step up the intensity. With the challenge prize money on the line, I pushed myself hard and was amazed at my strength.

Dieting has always been the area I struggled with. When I trained hard and worked out frequently, I didn't have to think about food. The only concern was to make sure I got enough calories to train hard and feel good.

During my transformation, I recorded everything I ate, which kept me accountable. It also helped me avoid eating more than my six meals. I tried hard to avoid processed foods. Every weekend my girlfriend and I would visit the local farmer's market and stock up fruit and veggies.
