Name Of Gym: Armbrust Pro Gym
Friday 5am-9pm Saturday 7am-8pm Sunday 7am-5pm Founder: Harry George
The first and previous owner wanted to start a serious, hard core gym. At the beginning of 2008 he decided it was time to let someone new take over. The gym was in need of some TLC so with a lot of work and love we came in and cleaned it up to make it an even better place to train. Dylan had been a member since the beginning and I had been here since 03. We knew we had the know-how after years of being in gyms to make it into what it had the potential to be. We are still working on it but wow, has it improved.
We have had several NFL players and other small team athletes come in. Of course we have Phil Heath which we think is a pretty big deal.
We have several wonderful trainers. I really mean that. I realize after being one for years how hard it can be dealing with the general public to get them in shape. I am very proud of a few of them. We pick ours by experience. Many of which are top NPC competitors. The best thing about our trainers is that they are all so different and there is someone for anyone. Our trainers are independent also.
Special services? We offer a GYM. THAT is pretty special to us. You can come in and train and not be judged or made to feel uncomfortable. There is no attitude or discomfort. I think that is the biggest thing any gym can offer. We are the only gym in Colorado with a large range of free weights. Dylan and I make a point to be very helpful to our members and any questions. One of the coolest things to me is the music. The place gets rockin'. We don't keep it top 40 mainstream and we aren't afraid to turn it up.
I already mentioned we have Phil and I suppose myself being a top IFBB professional. Rachel Cammon, the newest IFBB pro figure who we feel will be moving up the ranks quickly.
Heather Mae French when she comes down. We do love our competitors and we have quite a few of them. They know they can train here for shows and feel at home.
We have a lot of success stories. I can't really just name one. We pride ourselves on the fact that people come to our gym and do get results. I guess you could say it has a successful reputation.
Our atmosphere and personality. The character the gym has. It's old school. How many of those are left? The location is very convenient too.
Same reasons. Its clean, comfortable, lots of equipment. Everyone here makes everyone else comfortable. It's just a great crowd of folks. I think owners can make the atmosphere. I trained at plenty of gyms that have made me understand exactly what NOT to do.
Some of the power and Olympic lifters do some of the craziest stuff. Recently one did a movement so stupid it put a rack into a mirror. Not too funny for us. We have a tire in the back that I've seen the guys attack. That's pretty nuts.
I think it goes back to our approach with our members, no attitude and no high pressure, and sticking to what we know. A gym. We don't try to be what we are not. We have some really wonderful people that work for us that we could not do it without.
They make my life easier everyday. Being a couple in business together could hinder a lot of people but Dylan and I work absolutely great together. We compliment each other very well. One person can't do it all.
If you know of another gym that stands out as supporting our sport and providing an atmosphere that encourages clients of all ability levels to reach their goals please send us an email at gymofthemonth@bodybuilding.com so that we can showcase the hard work our gym owners and managers do to provide us a great place to train.
