How Did You Get Started?
Well I first started to lift when I was 13 because I was really overweight and got into sports. I started off with the usual preacher curl/bench press workout. From there I started to read about nutrition and lifting and came up with a regular lifting routine. After my junior year of football I saw this guy in my gym that looked huge, and he offered to lift with me. He was getting ready for the Mid-Illinois contest (where he took the middleweights and overall).
This guy was a freaky, never did cardio and was ripped beyond belief. Once I saw him win I knew that I wanted to do the same and entered two contests the very next year (the NPC Northern Indiana and NPC Indiana State) where I took first in the teen division in both.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Sample Workout Week:
Tuesday - Quads
Wednesday - Arms
Thursday - Off
Friday - Shoulders and Hamstrings
Saturday - Back and Traps
* Forearms and Calves EOD (Every Other Day)
I like to switch my workout every so often and a lot of my workouts change to how my body feels and what I need to work on. I believe that a lot of young bodybuilders don't pay attention to their hamstrings.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I have a really fast metabolism so I just base my diet on getting over 4500 calories a day spread throughout 5-6 days and I make sure I get around 200 grams of protein a day. When I start dieting that's when I get strict. I do my own nutrition planning and do it based on how I look and how far away the contest is.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love to see how far I can push myself. It shows how disciplined you are and it shows that you have a strong will. The feeling when you get on that stage and hear people cheering for you is one of the greatest feelings you can have.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I plan to compete at the 2006 nationals and bringing everything to the table. After that I would love to get a pro card!
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Stay focused, and don't be afraid to have other people critic you.
