Why I Decided To Transform
In 2008, I started losing my eyesight and was experiencing severe headaches. An MRI revealed I had a brain tumor. I had the tumor surgically removed in 2009. When my eyesight returned back to normal, I saw I had gained nearly 50 pounds!
I trained with weights my entire life and decided this was a second chance and a new start for me. I wanted to get in the best shape of my life and reinvent my appearance.
How I Accomplished My Goals
I bought a used treadmill for $50 that the seller was using as a coat rack. I cut fats from my diet and opted for fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
At first, I couldn't run on the treadmill for 30 seconds without walking, so I would walk for a minute and run for a minute until I could gradually jog, then later run long distances.
After the treadmill session, I would hit the stationary bike for five miles. I would follow cardio training with weight workouts and abs circuits on a Swiss ball.
Of course, with my healthy diet (no sugars or enriched products) in check, the fat and weight came right off. I lost 80 pounds of fat in nine months and my waist shrunk from 42 to 30 inches!
What Aspect Challenged Me The Most
Without question, it was the combination of the cardio to boost my metabolism combined with the healthy, low fat, low calorie diet void of sugars and enriched flours. To me, the diet is 90 percent of the battle to look your best and stay lean.
One must be strictly regimented to achieve these goals. Sometimes it's more challenging for me to get motivated to run then to stay within my diet. I overcame the challenge by watching videos on Bodybuilding.com while on the treadmill.
My Future Fitness Plans
I plan to stay healthy and do what I am doing for the rest of my life. I want to improve daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Like Arnold once said, "To be like everyone else ... I hate that."
Suggestions For Aspiring Transformers
You must first visualize what you want to look like, make your plan, and stick to it! Think positively and be influenced negatively by no one. Concentrate, eat correctly, and do your training. IT WILL HAPPEN!
There are so many cliches that are true and whose strength can be drawn upon. My favorites are "Just Do It" and "Make It Happen!"
A bad workout is still better than sitting around stuffing your face on the couch. So train your mind for success and the body will follow!
How Bodybuilding.com Helped Me Reach My Goals
Bodybuilding.com was and is my main motivation, period! Every one of my workouts were performed after watching the videos of all the pros performing the exercises. I love the Kai Greene and Ric's Corner series.
The articles are also invaluable and I refer to them always. I cannot stress what a great motivator it has been for me. To me, this site is the best on the internet! But millions already know that.
