How Did You Get Started?

I remember when I was a 240lb lazy, unhealthy, fat mess. Walking to my car from work would get me tired and winded. I know what it's like to be in bad shape and I know what it's like to feel healthy. It was an easy decision to stay healthy! I have had numerous surgeries on my right knee and also on my lower back but I didn't let that stop me. I just kept going to the gym and I refused to give up.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

The very best routine I have ever tried was 4 sets of 6-8 reps and then 2 drop sets right after the 4th set. This style of training really kicked my butt and I made serious improvements. I was very pleased with the results so I continued training this way for a few years.

Day 1: Chest

Day 2: Back

Day 3: Off

Day 4: Shoulders

Day 5: Arms

Day 6: Legs

Day 7: Off

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Carb cycling by far has worked the best for me. I have tried low carb, high carb, no carb etc. But carb cycling worked best. I would carb load every 18th meal, based on me eating 6 meals a day of course.

A sample of what I eat daily looks like this:

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I have had great results with several brands but the #1 company would be Betancourt Nutrition. Their Big Blend, BullNOX and Bull Rush products are the very best!

Big Blend was taken was taken with meals 2 and 5. I took 2 scoops and mixed in 8-10oz of water, by far the best tasting whey protein out today in my book. BullNOX was taken 30min prior to training and Bull Rush was sipped on intra workout. But what I like to do now is mix BullNOX and Bull Rush and drink that intra workout. I noticed my body responds to this combo much better this way. I will be using these same products all the way up to my next show!

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I feel great 24/7. My body looks and feels 100 times better now at 43 than it ever has in the past. The awesome feeling of being lean can't be beat. The Bodybuilding/Fitness community is amazing, like a one big family! There is always something new to learn and share with others.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

I would have to say that my beautiful wife, Shelly, is my #1 motivator. She really pushes me in the gym and is always there to wipe all the sweat off my head. She spoils me that's for sure. But without her there with me, my workouts just aren't the same. I really appreciate her and all she does to motivate me, even the trash talking she does.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

It was 2006 when I had reached a bodyweight of approximately 240lbs; I had posted a picture of myself in the beginners to bodybuilding section on a popular web site. The comments I got from people really hit hard. They were harsh, mean and downright hurtful. I had never been called those names before. But instead of letting those people and their comments get me down I made a commitment to prove them wrong, to prove I could be a bodybuilder.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I am currently prepping for a bodybuilding contest on March 19, 2011 in St. Louis Missouri. The NPC Mid West. It is an all Novice show and my plans are to win my class, the overall and the best poser awards. So, I plan to win it all.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Take your time; don't be in such a hurry. Be consistent. You can reach any goal you set if you just give it time and be consistent. Everyone wants to be bodybuilder, but ain't nobody willing to give it time.

I pretty much use the entire site really. Information overflows on this site. Any question a person has can be found on this site. Diet, training, supplementation and much more. I would have to say I use the forum the most. I enjoy talking with people and learning from them and sharing what I have learned.
