How Did You Get Started?
Back in high school, I start to play football and the coaches suggested to all the players to train a couple hours a week to gain some strength and avoid injuries. I pretty much took it from there and fell in love with the sport of bodybuilding.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Honestly, with the experience that I have, I try hundreds of workout plans depending on what phase (contest prep, off season, strength...) I was on. But for now, I'm at 5 month pre-contest and it looks something like this:
Sample Training Week
Day 1 -
Lying leg curl, seated leg curl, squat, leg press, leg extension
| What Are 21's?
One of Arnold's favorites. Using the curl as an example, you would do 7 full reps followed by 7 half reps from the starting position to half way up followed by 7 half reps from half way up to the top of the movement. All of this counts as one set.
Day 6 - Off
Day7 - Off
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
In the off season I try to eat around 3500 calories split into 6 meals containing at least 50-60g protein per meal, and 50-60g carbs per meal. For a contest-prep I had great results from a 3 day variation of carbs (low carb, medium carb, high carb) with still around 300g protein per day and a total of 2000 calories.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love bodybuilding because it gave me the chance to surpass myself physically and psychologically. Bodybuilding always brings you a challenge so you never get bored.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
Actually I'm preparing for the Canadian Championship that will take place in Montreal Quebec on September 3rd 2005. I will probably be in the middleweight class.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
The no.1 tip is, if you have money to spend on supplements, the first thing to buy is protein because you may train as hard as you can, but if you don't have protein in your body to help rebuild your muscle fibers, then you won't get any results.
