How Did You Get Started?
My husband got me started in fitness when we first met over 13 years ago. I've been hooked ever since. However, it was not until this past summer (at the age of 40) that I made up my mind to do a fitness show...a dream of mine for many years.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
90% of my training was with kettlebells and barbells. I also used sleds, medicine balls, and sand bags for general conditioning. The set and rep schemes are very difficult to explain, but my basic split looked like this:
- Monday (A.M.) - Chest, Shoulders, Arms
- Monday (P.M.) - 45 Minutes Of Boot Camp (Sled Dragging, Med Balls, Sand Bags, Jump Rope, Kettlebells)
- Tuesday - Off
- Wednesday (A.M.) - Heavy Front And Back Squats, Hamstrings (Mostly Glute-Ham Raise), And Abs
- Wednesday (P.M.) - 45 Minutes Of Boot Camp (Sled Dragging, Med Balls, Sand Bags, Jump Rope, Kettlebells)
- Thursday - Off
- Friday - Heavy Chest, Shoulders, Arms
- Saturday - Heavy Deadlift, Back, Abs
- Sunday - 45 Minutes Of Boot Camp (Sled Dragging, Med Balls, Sand Bags, Jump Rope, Kettlebells)
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Avoided wheat and lactose - this was a personal preference that has worked great for me.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I've experimented with a lot of different supplements and there are many good ones on the market right now. I like my pre-workout drinks to include BCAAs, some carbs, some protein and a mild stimulant like caffeine. I like my post work-out drinks to include some simple sugars, whey protein isolate, more BCAAs and creatine. I would usually use a supplement like Myoplex as my protein powder.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love the way it makes me feel and look. I enjoy the energy and vitality I get during and after my workouts...it makes the rest of the day easy! As a wife, business owner and mother of two wonderful children I need as much help as I can get! I emphasize to my clients that exercise is not a time consumer... it is actually a time maker! Why? Because when exercise is a part of your day then the rest of your day is 10 times more efficient. You don't need to go through your day like a walking course!
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
OCB competition on August 29th in Burlington, NJ...I want to put some more muscle on my body and be even leaner in my next show...I can't wait! Eventually I would love to earn my pro card. Some say it is almost impossible at my age, but I am eager to prove those people WRONG. It wouldn't be the first time I've proven people wrong who told me I couldn't do something.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Persistence and consistency are the keys to success...if you know what you want and have a burning desire to get there, and then nothing can stop you. Be sure to get a good posing coach, choose your suit well, and take time to know what tanning products work best for your skin and find a diet plan that works best for you... be patient! If you don't write down what you are doing it will be much harder to make accurate adjustments. Diet and exercise journals are your friend!
