How Did You Get Started?

I started as a teen. I grew up, always being the smallest and skinniest kid in the neighborhood and school. After meeting my cousin's neighbor, who worked out, I began working out with him in the backyard of his house. Not too long after, I joined Gold's Gym and began training with a friend who had a brother in bodybuilding.

As I got taller, I gained size, which definitely bought me lots of respect during my senior year in high school. I ended up working out for about a year, but always kept in my mind the desire to become a bodybuilder some day. After high school, I went into the military and soon I began working out again, only to totally be away from a gym for the next 15 years.

In 2007, I joined the local YMCA and began the quest to my life long dream. In my 30's but with immediate and awesome results, I connected with some local bodybuilders who convinced me to compete. In 2008 I entered my very first bodybuilding show and placed 2nd. From there, bodybuilding has been my lifestyle. I currently train at LA Fitness, Orlando and average anywhere from 3 to 4 NPC Bodybuilding competitions a year. I have placed in the top 3 on 9 NPC competitions.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I have tried several routines, but found the 2 days on, 1 day off split to work best for me. Currently I am on a 2 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 2 days off routine. I train chest and shoulders together as well as triceps and biceps. Back and legs are trained by themselves. I do cardio 2 or 3 days per week. I typically do 20 to 30 minutes on the Stairmaster. Not only do I believe it's the best cardio equipment, but it helps define my legs as well.

Day 1: Chest/Shoulders/Abs
Day 2: Hams/Quads
Day 3: Off

Day 4: Back/Abs
Day 5: Triceps/Biceps/Calves
Day 6 And 7: Off

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Mid Morning:

The key is eating every 2.5 or 3 hours. I drink a minimum of 1 1/2 gallons of water a day.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Besides looking great and living a healthy lifestyle, bodybuilding is a constant challenge. One can't ever stop learning and making improvements. The dedication and discipline is what keeps me motivated. Bodybuilding is like no other sport. The camaraderie is amazing.

There is not one sport where you are not only socializing and helping out your competition backstage, but making friends as well. The satisfaction of what you become after dieting and preparing for a bodybuilding show is far to none. The rush one feels on stage is incredible. I also feel great when family, friends and co workers feel amaze of how I look at 40 years old.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

Knowing that at age 40, I am healthier than I have ever been. I am healthier than most of our young generation. I feel and look great. I am constantly challenging myself to get in better shape and continue to eat healthy. In a world contaminated with fast food and an obese and unhealthy population, my motivation helps others turn into a healthy lifestyle.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

Not only to achieve my personal goals, but to help others achieve theirs. I constantly promote a healthy lifestyle and motivate others to achieve their goals. I told myself it is never too late to achieve one's dreams or goals. I also have proven other people wrong. There is no larger motivation for myself than when someone tells me something cannot be done.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

As I get ready for yet another show, I continue my quest of improving and achieving my goal of one day stepping on the national level stage. I am currently getting ready for a show, hoping to win my class (Men Over 40), and the Masters Overall. I would like to get to Pittsburg someday and win the Masters, possibly getting me closer to a Pro Card.

Now, even though competitions are part of my future, I am also pursuing a career in personal training. I am currently working on getting my Personal Trainer Certification, as I have begun training and helping others. I recently got appointed as the Wellness/Fitness Instructor of my Police Department as well.

I have worked with numerous friends with their fitness and nutrition goals. From exercise programs to diets, I have helped and made results possible for numerous folks. I hope one day to have a solid business, where I can make a difference for people.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

First and foremost, it's never too late. I began bodybuilding in my late 30's and now in my 40's I look better than ever. Bodybuilding is all about desire and will. Set your goals and never quit. Most important, enjoy and have fun in bodybuilding. There is no other lifestyle in which you can enjoy the benefits of not only looking good, but living healthier as well.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

My favorite bodybuilder of all time is Flex Wheeler. I will always refer to him as the uncrowned Mr. Olympia. Currently Phil Heath is my favorite.
