I decided that when the freshman 15 looked liked they were trying to creep up on me I decided to do something about it. So I started working out and loved it. I competed in a small show back in 1995 and then took off forever. Then in 2001 my now husband said that I should compete. We have several friends that compete in bb and fitness and every year when we would go to the show I would always say I should have competed. So, in 2001 I did 3 shows. In the Southern US Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Champonship I placed 1st and Overall in Fitness and 3rd in Figure. In the Greater Gulf States I placed 3rd in Figure, then it was off the Atlanta, GA for Nationals were I placed in the top 20 in the tall class.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

  • Monday: Back & Shoulders
  • Tuesday: Cardio
  • Wed: Legs
  • Thurs: Biceps & Triceps
  • Friday: Cardio
  • Sat: Routine & Cardio
  • Sunday: Off
I do cardio everyday along with weights and when it's close to a competition I do cardio twice a day in the morning and evening.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

My diet is basically the same year round high protien low carbs. During contest season, the amount of calories that I consume varies.

  • 6:30 AM: Protein shake
  • 8:30 AM: 1/2 cup oatmeal and 1 scp. glutamine
  • 11:30: Chicken & rice, fish w/ veggies, or chicken salad
  • 3:30 PM: 1 scoop protein with scoop peanut butter
  • 4:30-6:00: workout
  • 6:00: Protein shake
  • 8:00: 7-8 egg whites w/ cheese
I try to drink at least a gallon of water a day.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I use creatine and glutamine.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

For me it's a part of life. My husband is a personal trainer and I used to personal train and I love to workout. I like to see the results I get from training hard. Because with fitness it's all you. If you cheat on your diet or skip a workout and don't train as hard as you should have and if you don't do well in that show, it's all your fault. You have no one to rely on except yourself. That's why I love it so much. Plus it's worth it to stay healthy and live a long and prosperious life.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I don't really have any yet. I would love to compete in 2004.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Make sure you have the time to dedicate yourself 100% and have fun with it. Don't take it personal if you don't win.

Monica Brant hands down is my favorite! She is awesome. I also like Kelly Ryan.
