Teen Bodybuilder of the Week: Jon-Anthony Gallo

Teen Bodybuilder of the Week: Jon-Anthony Gallo! - Pics and info and more!

How Did You Get Started?

I started back in October of 2004. I was in 11th grade, very skinny, and I weighed 140 lbs with a gut. I was tired of being the skinny kid. So I started do bench presses and bicep curls because that is all I knew how to do. I then joined a gym in June 2005 and started doing every muscle everyday until I learned from the smartest lifter I know (Steve Miccuci) who I thank him for everything. He taught me push-pull, split schedule, and the importance of protein. Since then I have continuously lifted and haven't stopped since; I don't plan on it. I did my 1st competition in May 2007 and had the best time of my life. I weighed the lightest in the competition and placed 4th out of 9 in the teen division which was split only by age 18-19.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I have tried all different workouts. I find a 5-day split to work the best for me.

Arrow Sample Training Week:

I do probably 4-6 exercises per muscle with compound movements (bench press), high sets, low reps, and isolation movements (pressdowns); 3 sets 10-12 reps.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I don't have a strict diet unless I am dieting for a competition but I have only competed once. The main thing I concentrate on is getting enough protein; mostly from food. I eat around 260-280 grams of protein (1.5 grams per pound of body weight). I keep my fats low and don't concentrate too much on carbs.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I have tried plenty of supplements including NO-Xplode, CellMass, NO Shotgun and plenty of others. I find Universal products to work well for me: Torrent (amazing recommend to anyone), Shock, and Storm. Higher Power Multi-Vitamin, Optimum Whey Protein Mint, & NOW Carbo-gain.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because only I can control the way I look and the amount of weight I do. That is the best part because I am stronger than guys who are constantly on supplements, and I look better than them. Also, I enjoy helping others lift because I once started struggling at 135lbs bench and now I curl more than that, so I like helping others who are just getting started because it reminds me of myself.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

My plans are to continue lifting, obviously. I plan on doing my 2nd competition in April or May of 2008 with my partner.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Stay natural and focused. Remember, the more you work the better your outcome. Also, give it TIME - it took me forever to get the gains I got. I wish I would've started the right way when I first started. I wasted a year learning, but it worked out in the long run.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Jay Cutler- shoulders, Ronnie Coleman- arms, Dexter Jackson- back, Steve Miccuci for teaching me everything, and my partner Joe and Orazio.
