How Did You Get Started?

I have always considered myself athletic. I started lifting weights about 10 years ago after having my second child. I would be the only woman in the free weight room most of the time but that didn't stop me. I liked the results I got from it. Then about 2 years ago I decided to change my diet along with the weightlifting. That really changed everything and I had great gains from it. I had never concentrated on this area before especially the protein intake. I now know that diet is just as important if not more so then the gym time.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I naturally have a high metabolism and good muscle mass. I work each body part weekly except for abs I do 3 x's a week with cardio at 5:30 am. I'd say the most important factor in my workout is that I maintain good form throughout the exercises. I do 3-4 exercises per bodypart and aim to do 10 - 12 reps. I like to drop set my last set especially if I'm attempting to get past a plateau in a weight goal and gain some mass. My workouts are intense and I stay very focused when I'm at the gym. I don't have a lot of time, so the time I'm there I make it count. I just started training with a partner now. It's helped me get motivated and has pushed me to work harder. I have a trainer, John Evon, who I use for leg training weekly. I like to change up my routine frequently but I like to stick with the classic moves for each bodypart and incorporate multiple muscle movements with each workout. I don't use a belt, but instead maintain good form and maintain use of core muscles with each exercise. A sample of my workout week:

Mon- Chest and calves
Tues - Cardio 30 min and abs 5:30 am 8:30 am biceps and triceps
Wed - Lgs
Thursday - Cardio 30 min and abs 5:30 am no weights
Friday - Back
Sat - Cardio 30 min and shoulders and calves
Sun - REST!

Pre-contest: I increase my cardio time and amount of days per week.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Methoxy Isoflavone Transdermal - for good muscle gain and recovery and one less thing to take by mouth. You apply it on the skin. Pure Whey Isolate - Very convenient and mixes well with water and with a blender. Tastes great. Great for a before bedtime protein.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding has helped me become disciplined and goal oriented. It has given me an outlet to express my artistic side along with my physical side too. It has built my confidence and has gotten me through a very difficult time in my life. Bodybuilding and fitness got me through my breast cancer treatment 4 years ago. Even with 4 surgeries in one year I maintained going to the gym and doing as much as I could. I have used bodybuilding as an example to show that I can do it! I can still be strong and in good physical shape. I feel good about myself both mentally and physically.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I am currently training hard to try to gain more muscle and hope to compete in the Musclemania Show in LA in November. Another goal is to compete in the Team Universe competition next year for the NPC!! I am always trying to improve but at the same time maintain a balance in my life and to be realistic.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

It's not only what you do in the gym that counts. You need to have good nutrition and be well rested. They all need to be balanced and if not you won't get the gains you want. Remember to have fun!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Nancy Andrews, Ronnie Coleman (presented my trophy to me in April!), Rachel Mclish, Valentina Chepiga (for bringing back the feminine look to woman's bodybuilding).
