Amateur Fitness Competitor of the Week: Tracy Pruitt

Amateur Fitness Competitor of the Week: Tracy Pruitt! - Pics and info and more!

How Did You Get Started?

I got started working out after my first year in college after gaining the "freshman 15". My first summer at home, I got a part-time job at Gold's Gym and started working out and reading fitness magazines. My first fitness magazine was a Muscle & Fitness that had Monica Brant and Mia Finnegan in it. I loved their physique and wanted to get in that kind of shape. I got with a trainer for a few sessions and was hooked after that! My next year in college, I changed my major to Kinesiology and a double minor in Nutrition and Health Science and graduated in 1998 with a BS Degree. I went on to receive 4 certifications from The Cooper Institute in Dallas to personal train and teach aerobics, which I do on the side of my full time job as an Executive Assistant.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love fitness because of the way it makes me feel and look. It also helps reduce stress and helps me sleep better. I'm a pretty regimented person and like structure and organization, so writing out down my goals, diet and workout schedule works very well for me. I like being in control of my body and can build it how I want to look.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

Of course looking my best and feeling my best always keeps me motivated. I also keep motivated by reading articles on bodybuilding.com, in Oxygen Fitness Magazine, going to shows and competing. I love talking to people about working out and eating healthy. Having family and close friends that share my healthy lifestyle and support me definitely keeps me on track.

I have always wanted to compete since college, but never committed to it until I met IFBB Fitness Pro Susan Groshek 2 years ago. I trained with her a few times and she gave me workout and diet tips which changed my body. She continued to encourage me to compete and in March of 2010 I decided to commit to it. I placed 2nd in my first show, NPC Lone Star Classic in Plano, TX. Now I've committed to a second one, the Dallas Europa Super show this August.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

To compete in my second figure competition, the Dallas Europa Supershow on Aug 13 - 14th, 2010. Hopefully to place 1st and get the opportunity to go to Jr. Nationals in 2011.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Follow your dreams of getting in the best shape of your life and never give up! Don't ever think you can't do the diet, do the workout, or look the way you want to look. I never thought I could get in the kind of shape I did. I put a lot of hard work, sacrifice and dedication into it and got 2nd place in my first competition!
