How Did You Get Started?

I was in the gym back in 1997 and someone just came out and said, "you should do a bodybuilding show," and I thought hey, what the heck. I competed in a show from which point I was hooked.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Splitting body parts to their separate days and going heavy with lower reps in the 6-8 range. I made the best gains in size when I trained intensely for 50 minutes. For example on chest day, I may do 4-5 different movements at 3-4 sets each. In the six to eight reps range. I pick a weight I can do at least 6 times and no more then eight times. I always do each set to failure, I believe that is key to growth.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I eat clean all year round and stay within 15 lbs of stage weight all year. I eat low glycemic carbs. High protein and moderate fat and carbs all year long. To get an idea and see updates of my diet please feel to visit my website at www.shiloesteinmetz.com.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I use all IDS products. They are great quality, great taste, and work the best in my opinion. The basic building blocks are the best and I feel the staple in any bodybuilders supplement arsenal should be creatine, glutamine, BCAA's, ALA, ALC, whey protein and a blended longer acting protein.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I gives me an opportunity to see different places and meet new people. I also love to be in shape and looking good in always a plus. It is a feeling of accomplishment and very rewarding to see your hard work pay off.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I would like to achieve an IFBB Pro card eventually. Bodybuilding is and always be a hobby for me. Their really is no long term future in bodybuilding and you cannot make a living from it unless you are one of the top guys in the world, even then your glory and money goes away. I simply love to compete and do it for myself.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Keep balance in your life. Family, God, and work should always come first. Without God in your life everything else is meaningless. Stick to your dreams and keep them realistic. You can achieve anything you put your mind to as long as you believe and have the desire to achieve it!

I like the aesthetic physiques of Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler.
