How Did You Get Started?

Growing up, I always admired the physiques of fitness models and would day dream of having my own some day. Throughout high school I remained active participating in many sports and outdoor activities but always wanted to achieve more with my body.

I was married very young and was very discouraged by those around me who didn't want me to participate in the fitness industry at all. With that, my dream faded and it wasn't until halfway through my pregnancy that I truly realized how important it had been to me to achieve this particular goal.

I began hitting the gym very regularly and continued to clean up my diet throughout the remainder of my pregnancy. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and was back to the gym six days later. I was hooked.

It didn't take long before I began to make some major changes in my body. I became addicted to the rush of a good workout and obsessed with watching my body transform. Fitness modeling had always been something I wanted to pursue, and I knew it was time to set a date.

I began to really clean up my diet in October and set my photo shoot date for December 20th, 2009. I maintained a five day training split and added a double cardio session a few times a week. Preparing for that first photo shoot was by far one of the hardest things I have ever done.

However, it was also one of the most, if not the most, empowering experience in my life. I remember waking up the morning of my shoot, looking in the mirror and seeing a very defined four pack.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Focus was the key for me in achieving this goal. I would evaluate my progress weekly and make changes where I felt there could be room for improvement. It became very evident that I needed to start filtering out some of the negative influences in my life. I began to only share my goals with those who truly cared about my success and happiness in this life and tried to ignore the negative influences from those around me. Every day I looked forward to hitting the gym.

I became very addicted to the positive energy coming from others around me who were also trying to transform their bodies. I learned a lot about myself through this process both physically and mentally. I hit the gym six days a week. Here is a sample week for me in the gym.

Day 1: Arms/Abs/Cardio

Day 2 And 5: Legs/Abs/Cardio

Day 3: Chest/Back

Day 4: Shoulders/Cardio

Day 6: Cardio

Day 7: Rest

I added an afternoon cardio session a couple days a week as I got closer to my shoot.

The diet was by far the most difficult aspect of the process for me.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Fitness is a staple in my life. It keeps me centered and focused on a healthy lifestyle. I believe that to look and feel your best you have to want it for yourself only and not worry about what those around you think or say. You will always be too extreme for some and never hard core enough for others. Fitness reminds me to live my own life and be the very best version of myself I can be!

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

I am constantly motivated my people. I am motivated by those who aren't fit and who don't take care of themselves because it is a vivid reminder of what my life could be like. On the flipside I am so motivated and truly inspired by those who do take care of themselves. I am constantly motivated by other profiles and those working so hard to transform their body and take control of their lives!

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

I would say the greatest thing that made me want to achieve my goals was the many people in my life that weren't supportive. I wanted it so badly for myself, no doubt, but it was so empowering to finally prove to them that I did have what it takes and I could take control of my own life. This was the inspiration actually for my BodySpace username: Fit-4-mylife. I would say it sums it up well, wouldn't you?

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I plan to do a few shows this summer and fall. I want to focus especially this year on expanding my fitness modeling portfolio! In fact my next shoot is in 3 weeks!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

My biggest suggestion to others who are trying to achieve something huge with their lives is to never give up. Follow a sound nutrition and exercise program, mix it up every couple months and just keep going.
