How Did You Get Started?

I began training shortly after seeing Steve Reeves playing Hercules at the movie theatre. His physique was truly amazing and inspirational and as a very short 10 year old, I wanted nothing more than to have that kind of physique! My mother was very supportive and bought weights for my older brother and me to use in our basement.

We trained on and off for a few years before the testosterone began flowing in my veins signaling that puberty finally arrived. By the age of 17, I had built a pretty fair physique for circa 1969. I have been training on and off for almost 50 years and began competing in natural physique contests in 2005.

  • Rope Tucks: 2 sets of 20-30 reps

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

My current nutrition plan consists of keeping the carbs between 150 and 200 per day while keeping protein at 250 grams and fat at 75 or under. During my cutting phase, the carbs will be lowered and I will utilize more of a metabolic type diet with carbs up a couple of times per week while keeping the carbs under 60 grams. At that time, I will maintain the protein grams and increase the fats a bit and at all times drink a minimum of a gallon of water per day.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I feel that it is especially important at 58 years of age to utilize intelligent training along with a very clean diet and key supplements to naturally boost growth hormone and testosterone levels. That being said, the key supplements for me are Optimum 100% Whey protein, creatine, multiple vitamins and BCAAs.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

During the almost 50 years of training, bodybuilding has given me a physique that has brought respect and admiration from my peers as well as a sense of self confidence.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

By following this bodybuilding lifestyle, I have enjoyed good health and improved self-esteem. The discipline, control, and time management necessary for success in bodybuilding are key ingredients that have helped me to succeed in business and create happiness in my life.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

I have always been an extremely competitive athlete and discovered early in life that I excel in competition. Today, I find that competing with myself to get better everyday keeps me younger than my years, and by training hard and following the necessary bodybuilding lifestyle I am able to succeed. Even at the age of 58, I feel as though I am still capable of improving my physique!

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I am currently in training for 2 natural shows. One in Illinois on October 23rd is the NANBF SuperNatural Muscle Classic USA Super Pro-Qualifier, and one Musclemania show in Florida.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Set realistic goals for yourself and develop an intelligent plan to reach those goals. Make sure that you give everything you attempt, your very best effort!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Steve Reeve's physique was the reason that I began training and my Golden Ave heroes include Dave Draper, Frank Zane, and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger.
