Fitness 360: Jen Jewell, Nutrition Program
Jen Jewell's nutrition philosophy is simple: find balance. No calorie-counting or food-weighing for this fitness queen! She stays ripped year round with moderate and clean meals.
Because she's been on the not-so-healthy side of nutrition, Jen Jewell understands that balance is essential to success. Instead of restricting herself or eating only bland bodybuilding basics, she does a little bit of everything. As long as she keeps a steady nutrition plan throughout the year, Jen feels like she can stay super fit and enjoy her food. Learn more about Jen's nutrition philosophy!

Consistent Nutrition
Depending on her schedule and activity level, Jen eats about every 2-3 hours. But, that schedule isn't set in stone. "If I'm hungry after an hour and a half, I'll eat another meal or throw in a protein shake." Generally, she sticks to an "eat when you're hungry" rule. Clearly, it's working.
"I don't count my calories and I eyeball my portions at each meal. I've taught myself what a serving of chicken breast, fruit, or sweet potato looks like. It's helped me keep a fit physique."
Jen also cares about the taste and flavor of her food. "I'll never be that girl who has tilapia and asparagus in her Tupperware. I haven't tasted tilapia in two years. If anyone knows good tilapia recipes, let me know!"
"Honestly my diet stays pretty consistent throughout the entire year," Jen says. "No matter if I'm preparing for a shoot, a competition, or life in general, I've found a healthy, balanced, realistic approach to nutrition that has been the key to my success."
In the past, Jen hasn't always had the best outlook on her diet. "When I wasn't in the shape I am today, I would start a new diet and quit after a week because it was too restrictive. I'd start out strong, but then I'd go back to eating out every day, getting frozen yogurt during my lunch break, and then meeting my girlfriends for happy hour."
Now, Jen eats everything in moderation. "I eat fruits, veggies, healthy fats, starches, and a ton of protein on a daily basis. I even have dessert once per week." Because of this stellar nutrition plan, Jen is always focused and never deprived.
