Research has shown that after an intense workout, your body is more likely to synthesize muscle instead of building up fat stores, even if you take in a large amount of simple carbohydrates. This is a very important point.

The popular misconception is that a large serving of fast-absorbing carbohydrates causes fat stores to increase. Indeed, if you consumed those same types of calories in large amounts at a time when the muscle isn't trying to recover from exercise, such as in the rested state, fat cells will more readily store those surplus calories through fatty acid synthesis. dextrose is basically glucose under another name, why waste money when you can get a banana?

In addition, getting carbohydrates only increases insulin level within a short period of time, after insulin decreases glycogen level in blood, it drops down. Unless you keep getting high amount of simply carbohydrates, in which case, you will probably get excessive amount of calories, you won't be able to remain high insulin level (unless you inject insulin, but that's another story).

So, all you can do, is just have some complex carbs that keeps providing energy to your body through out the day.

That's why you eat 4 times in the 4 hours after a work out... First meal is liquid for max intake the next three are a combination of simple and complex carbs to take full advantage of your anibolic window after your work out
