Why I Got Started
I had always been over weight as a child, never had boyfriends, was bullied at school about my weight, and was always bigger than all my friends. By the time I had reached 19 my weight had escalated out of control and I hit a massive 210lbs.
My diet at the time consisted of lots of take outs, fizzy drinks, sugary snacks, basically junk food. I hated the way I looked, hated the way I felt, I just hated everything about myself and I had little to no confidence. I found it hard to find clothes that fit me properly and had to shop in stores that catered for larger ladies, I had to do something about my weight, I was so desperately unhappy.
I knew that it was only myself that could help me and it was up to me to turn my life around.
How I Did It
Having decided enough was enough, I began to follow a healthy eating plan, and in the first week my weight dropped by 7.5lb. Completely motivated by the results, I continued and within 6-7 months I had reached my target weight of 134lb. I was focused, determined and felt absolutely fantastic with my achievement. My weight loss allowed me to feel comfortable enough to join a gym, gave me a new hobby, and allowed me to meet new friends.
Having been a member of the gym for a few years I maintained my weight loss however I still had loose skin from my weight loss so in November 2008 I approached a personal trainer, David Souter from BodyFX David designed me a personal training program from which I saw the most fantastic results. My body fat and measurements halved and that loose skin filled with muscle!
Weight training from that point became like a drug to me, I just loved seeing my body change in tone and shape. My body fat fell from 22.7% to 16.5%; friend's and family's compliments in my change in physique definitely kept me motivated and focused.
I needed a goal to work towards so I booked a photo shoot at the gym with Adrian Hanlon Photography I changed my diet to a clean diet incorporating carb cycling. I was blown away with the results and have to say thoroughly enjoyed the transformation progress. In those 10 weeks I dropped my weight from 135lb to 119lb and body fat fell to 14%.
I entered one of my photo's into Facebook's Physique of the Week competition and won week one of the competition. I couldn't believe it, I was so happy. I then entered Physique of the Week again at Christmas as you could win a training session with Dorian Yates, and I won this too with over 16,000 votes.
The training session at Temple Gym Birmingham with Dorian Yates and Andrew Coulson from Body Coaches was awesome, I feel so lucky to have trained with the best of the best.
I trained legs with Dorian which was tough but I loved every minute of it. He certainly put me through my paces and educated me in a whole new way of training. A short documentary, also produced by Adrian Hanlon, can be found below:

I am now in talks with Body Coaches which has been launched by 6-time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates and fellow bodybuilder and entrepreneur Andrew Coulson. It is a unique website in which you click on to get direct access to Dorian's vast training and nutritional knowledge as well as that of other stars of the sport such as Ronnie Coleman, Shawn Ray, Lee Haney, Kevin Levrone, Dexter Jackson, Toney Freeman and many more.
Body Coaches will broadcast live seminars by these bodybuilding legends wherein, from the comfort of your own home, you can view the seminar and participate by asking your own individual questions.
My transformation will be featured on the Body Coaches site and I am looking forward to working alongside Dorian and Andrew in an aim to help others transform their lives and physiques as I have done.
I am in the best shape of my life and finally love my body. I am looking forward to training harder, making further improvements and maybe making an appearance on stage. I feel like such an inspiration to others and love showing my results to prove that you can do anything if you want it hard enough.

I do my resistance training at 7am every morning because the gym is quiet and I can get a good workout, and 30 minutes of HIT cardio at night.

Never give up, you can do it if you believe in yourself. Put in the hard work and you will get the results. It is never too late to make changes and turn your life around; my transformation is proof of this.
