Arginine DOES NOT Give Great Pumps

In fact, it doesn't even give mediocre pumps - it gives NO PUMPS. And yet for years supplement companies have included some form of arginine into their pre-workout formulas. This is despite more and more scientific research being published showing how worthless it actually is! In fact one randomized crossover, placebo-controlled study found absolutely no effect from arginine supplementation when administered in large amounts (6g per day) to ten elite athletes (1) - no effect on performance or pump at all! And earlier this year a study was published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research that found it could even be performance-debilitating (2). Yes, it can actually make your training WORSE! We can only assume that these companies do not follow the latest science. But we certainly do, and it means we produce products like Triazole™ and Activate Xtreme™ that you all know and love.

Taking anything simply to give a pump does not guarantee a great workout. This is where too many companies get it backwards. They try and FORCE a pump out of you, but it doesn't work that way. Let us put it another way...

The Best Pumps Come From The Best Workouts.

A great workout makes for a great pump, and once you're at that stage every single rep feels amazing and you never want the workout to end. If we told you that this is how you'd feel with your workouts on Craze™ then you'd probably think we were full of it, but please read on and let us explain exactly why this is the case. We didn't let you down with Activate Xtreme™; and Triazole™ lived up to the hype AND MORE. Believe us, once you try the product itself you'll realize that we aren't lying with this claim - Craze™ will deliver some of the best workouts of your life!*

Here's why:

The Best Workouts Come From The Best Performance

It's true. It is why you should be as concerned with your performance as you are with what you eat and how much you sleep. It doesn't matter whether you're training for competition or simply aiming to get stronger in the gym. Excellent performance means progression, and progression means growth (3).

Recovery Begins At Home, Growth Starts In The Gym

Outside of the gym you rest, you eat, and recuperate for your next workout. You get on with life, like family, friends, work and your other interests, but you always have one eye on your next workout. This is because you know from experience that what you put in when you train, or when you practice, ultimately determines the end product that you produce. If you compete, this could mean the difference between making the team or sitting on the sidelines. It could be the difference between winning a medal, or watching someone else claim your prize. If you are a non-competitive bodybuilder, this could be the difference between hitting a new PR or being stuck in an incessant plateau. It could be why you weren't in the shape you wanted to be the last time you were at the beach.

When you train you unleash a sequence of events that initiate hypertrophy - the growth of muscle tissue - and make you stronger. If you DON'T TRAIN HARD enough, you don't send the signals and you WON'T GET BIGGER, faster or stronger. Before you know it you're stuck in a plateau. Athletes the world over know that to perform at their highest level they need to be able to train at their highest level year-round. In the exact same way, in order to look your very best you have to train your very best and do so consistently. This isn't always possible in life - there can be too many LIMITING factors, things that get in the way and hold you back.

To succeed in your goals for looking better and being stronger you should consider yourself an athlete and aim to ensure that every workout you have contributes towards those goals. We'd like to tell you how Craze™ can help you in your endeavors.

Welcome To Your New World Of Craze

Everything about Craze™ has been designed based on the latest scientific research for sporting performance enhancement*. The Kinesis™ blend that makes up Craze™ begins with trimethylglycine (TMG). TMG has been suggested in a double-blind placebo-controlled study to support IMPROVED TRAINING PERFORMANCE AND LOWER FATIGUE in human subjects (4).* Another recent study published in the JISSN, also a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial, surmised that TMG supplementation may have promoted INCREASED POWER AND FORCE OUTPUT of participants that were asked to bench and squat, and those given TMG maintained the power and force ability throughout the workout (5).* TMG is believed to exert these effects due to it being a natural osmolyte (6).* By pulling water into cells TMG may help volumize the muscle, making it bigger, stronger and more resistant to fatigue.* It's inclusion in Craze™ was as much of a no-brainer as the next component: creatine monohydrate.

Creatine: Performance Results Every Time*

Running a search on creatine monohydrate will produces tens of thousands of results, many of which focus squarely on creatine's ability as a performance enhancer.* It does this combining with a phosphate from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to rapidly replenish phosphocreatine (PCr) in muscle (7). PCr is a currency that the muscle can use for immediate energy demands - like heavy weight lifting.* This can cause a significant difference in your training as suggested by numerous human trials. A double-blind study involving thirty-two resistance-trained men suggested that it only took five days for the participants to increase their body

weight and fat-free mass (i.e. muscle) and significantly increase their peak force production on the bench press (8).* Some of the weight gained was undoubtedly water - just like TMG creatine pulls water into cells, causing volume. But this study is not the only to find these effects. Other placebo-controlled studies have reinforced the use of creatine to improve performance and muscle mass (9, 10), and more importantly IT DOES THIS SAFELY (10).*

Creatine to Phosphocreatine (PCr): One phosphate from ATP combines with creatine to increase stores of phosphocretaine (PCr) which goes towards fueling the immediate energy demands of exercise.

Creatine Makes A Muscle Grow*

The effect that creatine can have on muscle size is NOT just related to its ability to increase water retention. In fact, some studies have suggested that creatine can directly increase muscle size itself, and it can do this through a number of growth-regulating pathways.* Leucine is one of the main amino acids involved in protein synthesis and muscle-building, and creatine has been surmised, in a randomized placebo-controlled study, to lower rates of leucine oxidation (11) thus making more available for protein synthesis.* But creatine will not boost protein synthesis rates alone. In combination with resistance exercise like weight lifting, however, it is a different story. A study in twenty-two untrained male subjects suggests that weight lifting over a period of twelve weeks while supplementing with creatine had a SIGNIFICANT EFFECT ON MUSCLE SIZE versus placebo (12).* The effect was particularly significant in the type II muscle fibers - those with the highest potential for growth and force production (i.e. strength). A follow-up study - again double-blind, placebo-controlled - investigated the effects of creatine on myogenic regulatory factors over twelve weeks in twenty-two males. The study surmised that creatine increased the expression of myogenin and MRF-4 more than placebo (13).* Myogenin and MRF-4 are BIG PLAYERS in myosin heavy chain expression and building muscle.*

Now you know that Craze can build size and strength, but what can it do for pump and performance?

We're glad you asked...

We Repeat, Supplemental Arginine DOES NOT Give Great Pumps!

In fact, there is research that is almost twenty years old that has shown this (15) and yet companies persist in including it in their poorly designed products. Within the blood vessels of the body arginine converts to citrulline through an enzyme called endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). This process releases nitric oxide (NO) as a by-product. NO goes on to relaxing muscles in the walls of blood vessels, thereby promoting blood flow to muscles. This is important, as it helps deliver nutrients to the working muscles, but simply taking arginine does not significantly increase blood-arginine levels.

eNOS: Nitric oxide (NO) is released when arginine converts to citrulline in the blood vessels. NO causes the muscles of the blood vessels to relax leading to greater blood flow.

In actual fact one of THE BEST WAYS to increase blood-arginine levels is by taking citrulline, as suggested by a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled cross-over study in twenty healthy volunteers (16).* As it happens, citrulline is the rate-limiting factor for arginine synthesis (17). In other words: more citrulline, more NO, and more support for pump.* This is one reason why Craze™ uses L-Citrulline, but NOT THE ONLY reason. Citrulline also plays a very functional role in the body.

Citrulline And Ascorbic Acid: The Performance Specialists*

The Urea cycle is a process which occurs mostly in the liver and is critically important for regular body function through removal of highly toxic ammonia from the blood stream. Ammonia is a by-product of nitrogen breakdown that accumulates due to a variety of bodily processes, including amino acid digestion. By increasing metabolic rate and therefore amino acid breakdown, physical exercise produces a great deal of ammonia which may build-up. When the Urea cycle is unable to keep up with the production of ammonia and harmful nitrates, their build-up induces a metabolic acidosis which can inhibit energy production, reduce recovery, and hinder athletic performance significantly - something that has been shown in human metabolic testing (18) and is partly due to citrulline depletion (19).

Nitric oxide is a free radical, and its release depletes the reserves of a naturally-occurring antioxidant in the body called glutathione (GSH). Because of this a sort of tolerance develops (20) that results in lowered nitric oxide output. This may help explain why some people fail to respond to NO-boosters after a few doses - the companies they buy from don't understand the complex mechanisms involved. But we do, and we researched and found a double-blind, placebo-controlled study that surmised that ascorbic acid, better known as Vitamin C, may help provide support against this in the first place (21).* But vitamin C is a multi-headed beast and has also been suggested in one double-blind, randomized, crossover study to help lower oxidative stress, leading to lower post-workout muscle soreness and enhanced recovery (22).* This finding has since been replicated in other double- and single-blind placebo-controlled human trials (23, 24). And now you know why Craze™ includes ascorbic acid.

There is one more facet of each workout that is often missed in pre-workout products.

Enhancing The Mind-Muscle Connection*

Mind-Muscle Diagram

There aren't many supplements available that can increase the mind-muscle connection quite like caffeine can. It acts in the brain by antagonising (blocking) adenosine A1 and A2A receptors (25). This inhibits the activity of Adenosine, a compound in the body that typically slows nerve cell activity, initiating a relaxed type of environment. By antagonising adenosine, this effect is in fact reversed and nerve cell activity is increased. In other words, you are stimulated.*

This stimulation has been suggested in human trials to manifest as added support in performance ability (26) and a lowering of fatigue (27).* In eighteen male athletes caffeine was suggested to promote improved strength on the leg press, chest press and Wingate test, as well as leading to a greater peak power (28).* A placebo-controlled study recently published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology surmised that in healthy males, those given caffeine recorded superior sprint cycling performances (29).* A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial conducted at the University of Alabama suggests that caffeine ingestion prior to exercise supported improved performance by delaying fatigue (30).* Another study from earlier this year suggests that caffeine prior to exercise not only provided support against fatigue in healthy males leading to an improvement in the bench press, it may have also supported an increase in how they perceived their mood (32).*

Adenosine Receptors and Caffeine Diagram: 1. Under normal circumstances adenosine molecules bind to the adenosine receptor to initiate a relaxed cell state. 2. Caffeine blocks adenosine molecules from binding to the receptor, increasing the cell activity that leads to stimulation.

We could go on and on about this subject all night, but the fundamental message is that caffeine supports enhancements in performance.* A review paper published in the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism discussed the effects of caffeine on the neuromuscular system and concluded that caffeine is an ergogenic not just because of a more direct effect on muscle cells (where it potentiates calcium release from the ryanodine receptor), but also on the nerves themselves (33).* Human trials have suggested that caffeine may support enhanced COGNITION, promote ALERTNESS and supports MOTOR CONTROL (34, 35).* This role in neuroprotection is also believed to be how Dendrobex™, a proprietary dendrobium extract, may work (36). Dendrobium is one of the fifty "fundamental herbs" listed in traditional Chinese medicine (37). Here it is made into an herbal tea and drank as it is believed to help strengthen immune system function and act as an energizer.* This may be due to Dendrobex™ being rich in phenylethylamine (PEA), which is a naturally occurring neuroamine that is also found in chocolate. Within the body PEA releases norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that increases the motor co-ordination of the muscles.* Human studies have lead to scientists theorizing that PEA is partly responsible for the "runner's high" and elevated mood (38).* This has since been reinforced by a human study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine where twenty healthy men showed increased levels of phenylacetic acid in their urine following exercise. Phenylacetic acid is one of the primary metabolites of PEA, illustrating its elevated levels in response to exercise (39).*

Citramine™ is an extract of Citrus reticulata, derived from the fruit of the tangerine. For thousands of years it has been used in both Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese systems where it is believed to promote the flow of natural energy through those that consume it.* This effect is thought to be due to the alkaloids that Citramine™ is rich in, including N-methyltyramine (NMT) and naringenin. The stimulatory properties of NMT have been suggested in rodents, where it BLOCKS the alpha-2 adrenergic receptor (40).* This receptor would typically lower stimulation, as well as promoting fat storage, so this is very welcome. The stimulatory effect of NMT may be supported by the naringenin content of Citramine™, which may also promote the stimulatory effect of caffeine as noted in a human trial published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology (41).*

So You Wanna Know What Makes Craze Stand Apart?
