This calculator uses scientific data from ACSM! These numbers were calculated using Metabolic Values. The Classification of Energy Costs of Human Physical Activities Compendium classifies physical activities by energy expenditure. The results have been compiled from an extensive number of respected pieces of research, which have been carried out.

a calorie-burn counter asks how many calories burned? DOES NOT WORK.

I thought the same thing until I used it. The calculator is for finding an exercise that burns X calories in Y minutes, so it's useful for finding alternatives for cardio. After you input the values it gives you a list of exercises.

But now I'm wondering how to interpret the minutes. Is a 50 minute weightlifting workout 50 minutes or, if I subtract the pauses in between sets, 17 minutes?
In case of the latter the amount of calories burnt during weightlifting would be similar to walking.
