How Did You Get Started?
I was very over weight all my life and started dieting just to get in shape. Some local men at my gym taught me how to eat and train for size and after putting on some weight they talked me into doing my first competition, the Tri State in Erie, PA. The following year I got with Beverly International for my diet and did the Northern Kentucky contest. I fell in love with being onstage and did everything I could to get enough knowledge to bring my best possible conditioning and physique to the stage the following year and work toward one big goal, teen nationals.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
After my first two shows I decided that I needed someone to do the thinking for me because I knew I could do the work. I contacted Mike Davies of the fitness factory and have improved my physique by leaps and bounds since getting with him. As far as training goes - I train four days a week performing between 9 and 14 sets for large body parts (chest, back, quads) and 6 to 9 for smaller parts (arms, abs, and calves) during my pre-contest phase I like to utilize supersets, cables, and machines that I do not use much in my off season training, to bring out every last cup and separations that I can.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I do whatever Mike Davies tells me to do. High protein and manipulate carbs and cardio to either put on or shed weight. Timing your carbohydrate intake is very important. I try to put mine early in the day as well as post workout when glycogen is depleted.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love the feeling of being in front of thousands in the best shape you can possibly be in and staying humble in my demeanor. I also enjoy the scene and comradory that is shared backstage at a show as well as in the gym. This sport has lead me to greater friendships than any other.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I am currently personal training in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio as an employee and will be moving to Pittsburgh at the end of the month to start my own personal training business after nationals. I do all the reading and attend all possible lectures that I can and am astounded by what nutrition can do. I would love to have a pro card by 25 and am planning on shooting for my national qualifier next fall after a full year of growing.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Stay focused and listen to your trainer. A good one will never lead you in the wrong direction and NEVER become satisfied with your results. Always strive for more, and no matter how much you love bodybuilding... other things in life, family and friends, should always have time in your day away from training, eating, and planning. Without my family I would not be the bodybuilder I am today.
