How Did You Get Started?

The summer of my 9th grade year, my uncle, an athletic trainer, challenged me to do 100 pushups every day for one year. They didn't all have to be in one set, but one way or another, do 100 pushups a day. Starting off, 50 in the morning and 50 at night didn't seem too hard. So I upped the ante. I wanted to see how many I could do.

I began adding sets and adding sets until I would be up to 500 or 1000 pushups, and I could not crank out another one. But over the pain, I began noticing changes in my body, and people began complimenting me on how I looked. I had been bitten by the bodybuilding bug, and I could not get enough! A year's membership to the local gym, and I was on my way.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Granted, I have not been in it as long as most, but I've definitely tried some different techniques over the years. My workout plan is based on a 6 day on, 1 day off cycle, working a primary muscle and a main synergist each day. As for cardio, my main form of transportation to class and work is my bike, so I've logged countless miles biking. In addition to that, I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the Stairmaster. I do HIIT on the treadmill 2-3 times a week as well, in addition to the previously stated routine.

Day 1: Chest/Triceps
Day 2: Back/Biceps
Day 3: Cardio/Abs
Day 4: Delts/Traps
Day 5: Legs/Calves
Day 6: Cardio/Abs
Day 7: Off

*For incline dumbbell chest press, I use the same weight for each set; starting at 15% incline and working up 15% incline each set, ending with 75%.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Syntha-6 protein gave me my start sophomore year. I noticed impressive gains from it and it has been a staple in my routine ever since. Also, I have noticed significant gains since taking creatine monohydrate.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because of the mindset you must adopt to be successful at it. To make gains, you have to push through the pain, and stick it out till the end. Sure, it feels like your bones will break. It's painful. But you continue. It's so easy to push it away and say "tomorrow" or "I may have wanted 8, but I'm okay with 6 reps." But this mentality of giving 100% goes farther than that heap of iron staring at you in the gym. It transfers into a theory of productivity and determination in all aspects of your life.

There are only so many hours in a day, and time is the one thing you can't get back. I have never met anybody as determined as the guys I meet sweating in the gym with the same dedication and focus. It's like we're all on the same page. It's something you rarely find anywhere else. Also, let's be honest - we live in a country obsessed with figure and looking fit. So, it doesn't hurt to turn a few heads now and then!

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

Myself. I never want to be out of shape or unable to perform the way I do now, so I will continue until I simply cannot go any longer. That being said, I also have huge respect for Greg Plitt and Rob Riches, and they serve as a model for what I want to achieve. They have both made astounding careers for themselves in this field, and I would love to meet them one day.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

Like I said before, America loves a beach body. As a teen, isn't that all anyone cares about? Seriously though, I just didn't want to fall into the climbing rate of obesity in this country. I want to be the best.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I still have years of training ahead of me before I reach my goals. However, I would love to compete in a local or national physique competition, because it would be a new experience for me. Also, it is one of my dreams to become a fitness model and be on a cover (of anything!)

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Don't stop till you're finished. Don't sell yourself short. This is what you love. Don't let the naysayers stop you from doing what you love. In this sport, the only person that matters is you, so stay dedicated to yourself!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Greg Plitt, Rob Riches, Zyzz. It's amazing what they have done. Although I never want to be as big as the Sandows, I definitely admire Kai Greene, Dexter Jackson, and of course Arnold for the mindsets that they have contributed to the sport.
