How Did You Get Started?

My high school was too small to support any sports teams, so for fun, a couple buddies and I went up to the local YMCA after school to play basketball and lift weights. As I kept lifting, I wanted to maximize my gains from the gym, so I started researching online. I kept on getting more and more into the sport of it, and when I got to college I made a lot of great friendships in the weight room. My friends and I got to talking, and I eventually decided I'd try out a competition.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I tried to keep my lifting heavy all the way up until the time of the competition to keep up as much mass as possible. I also used high volume training on my main movements.

Day 1: Back/Triceps

Day 2: Core

Day 3: Legs

Day 4: Off

Day 5: Chest/Biceps

Day 6: Core/Cardio

Day 7: Shoulders/Traps

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I opted for the very low carb, high fat and protein approach for contest preparation. I feel like it gave me great conditioning on stage. Also, eating frequently (every 2 hours) was one of the biggest factors in losing fat. Note - every 3rd day, I would have a carb up meal consisting of brown rice, sweet potatoes, veggies and a piece of fruit.

Meal 1: 7:40 AM

Meal 2: 10:00 AM

Meal 3: 12:00 PM

Meal 4: 2:30 PM

Meal 5: 5:00 PM Post Training

Meal 6: 7:00 PM

Meal 7: 9:00 PM

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

BSN's CellMass gave me great strength gains when I first started bodybuilding. Protein powder has always helped to fill my macros for the day. Scivation's Xtend really helped me get through workouts as I was dieting and worked pretty well to curb my appetite if I was hungry. I am also a very firm believer in a good multivitamin (I use AST's Multi-Pro).

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love to continually improve myself in every way. Through bodybuilding, I am able to drastically improve my body. I also am a very competitive person, and bodybuilding gives me a way to compete.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

My mom always made healthy meals for the family as I was growing up which really built a solid foundation of the rest of my bodybuilding endeavors. I feel like I have built a lot of who I am around health and bodybuilding, so it's just second nature now.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

I have always been pretty competitive, so I want to achieve my bodybuilding goals to give me the best chance at winning competitions. More importantly, I believe the ability to set goals and achieve them lends greatly to the internal strength of a person, so I am driven to achieve my goals to develop my mind and personality.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I'm taking about a year off from competing and really focus on adding quality strength and mass. Standing at 6'1", I have a lot of frame to fill out. But in the long run, I will be competing to be the best I can possibly be!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

The one tip I'd give to other bodybuilders would be to surround yourself with people who love bodybuilding as well. I have a group of friends that I constantly bounce new ideas off of and talk bodybuilding with. It's great to be able to relax with people who have similar interests as you. I would be nowhere near where I am right now without my friends!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I admire Arnold a lot for his classic physique. Kai Greene is a constant inspiration to me because of his training philosophy. I'm also a big fan of Philip Ricardo Jr. and Layne Norton.

What Features Do You Use On

I read a lot of articles on I would say that the majority of the knowledge of bodybuilding I have now comes from the articles that I have read on this site. They have been a great inspiration to me especially when I first started getting into bodybuilding. I also buy my supplements from the store.
