How Did You Get Started?
Growing up I was never in the best shape so when middle school ended I decided to start working out and got a membership to the local YMCA where I worked out for the next 2 years. I didn't know much and ended up just picking things up from other people I saw working out. The weight room I lifted in wasn't very big and didn't even have a free weight barbell set but I made due.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Having fun. Too many people get caught up in a specific routine and get bored but I never kept a strict routine. I would work certain muscles certain days but I wouldn't know what exercises I'd be doing till I got to the weight room. I just made sure to keep a good variety of exercises and made sure to switch everything up whenever I felt the need.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
Since I started working out I have tried to eat as healthy as I can and made sure to get plenty of protein. I've always made breakfast and post workout meal my biggest meals of the day with smaller meals spaced out in between. I'm pretty good about following a 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat diet and it's worked pretty well for me thus far.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Definitely whey protein powder. Some lifting buddies introduced me to it a year in to my weight lifting and I've taken 2 shakes a day pretty consistently since I started using it. I currently take Optimum 100% Whey Protein. Strawberry is the only flavor I like.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I like the idea of having control over what my body looks like. Being in good shape gives you more confidence and makes you feel better and who doesn't like perks like that?
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
No doubt I plan on putting more muscle but I'd like to stay under 200 lbs and that shouldn't be hard considering my height doesn't appear to be moving at all. Some day I'd like to compete but I still have plenty more work to do.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
More than anything just have fun with weightlifting. If you love what you are doing and have fun doing it there is no where to go but up.
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
Franco Columbo. Franco is massive even though he is a shorter guy like myself. He was easily one of the strongest if not the strongest bodybuilder of his time. Seeing him deadlift and drag that little Italian car out of its spot in the movie 'Pumping Iron' just lets me know that little guys can be as beastly as anyone else. His back was legendary and he was a successful powerlifter as well which I take a lot of interest in.
