Product Overview

Hi Protein Product Image

First there was the "energy bar." This was followed by the "high protein" bar and then the "low carb" bar. With the Hi Protein Bar, a new precedent has been set: the high protein/low carb (HPLC) bar. Hi Protein Bar is our HPLC bar with 32-34g of protein and only 7g of net impact carbs. With a protein-to-carb ratio of nearly 5-to-1. For starters, the Hi Protein Bar tops the scales at 85g. And while many bars use only whey protein concentrate exclusively, Hi Protein also uses the purer, more expensive whey protein isolates in each and every bar. Plus, you´ll also find hydrolyzed whey protein, glutamine peptides, and soy isolates.

But protein is only part of the story. Compare Hi Protein Bar´s 1g sugars to others. Some "high protein" bars contain 13g of sugars! We make all of our own bars. We don´t hire a "contract manufacturer" to do it for us. Ever wonder why nearly all bars taste the same? That´s right, contract manufacturing. Does the back of your high protein bar say, "made by" as it should, or does it say "made for" or "distributed by"? This is an important distinction. Manufactured by us. More protein, fewer carbs.

What more do you need to know? How about a nice, easy price? Because we´re the manufacturer, we can keep quality up and cost down. On a gram per gram basis, Hi Protein Bar is our most economical of all the bars.

Finally, while protein content may be the primary concern, and while the price is secondary, there´s still the issue of taste. A bar can be great in every respect, but without taste, it will never succeed. Some bars on the market have the consistency of asphalt. Others taste like they´re made of concrete. Rest assured, all of the Hi Protein Bars are soft, moist, fresh and delicious. With 20 key vitamins and minerals and its proprietary Hi Protein Bar Matrix, the Hi Protein Bar is hard to beat. Extremely hard.

Not to be a negative Nancy here but 3 things right off the bat that concerns me with these: 1) partially hydrogenated shortening...still find it disgusting that the FDA does not regulate the use of partially hydrogenated anything in the U.S. due to money issues, but should never be in any bb supplement, seeing how they are legally able to declare 0.49 g of trans fat as 0 on the label for those of you who didn't know (might not seem like much, but when you start eating these 3x/wk or more it will add up)... 2) 26g of sugar alcohol? - bet a lot of ppl are gonna have some serious GI issues with that number. 3) soy protein accounts for the majority of the protein content. Not cool for guys. Really not cool Not really sure why this product is still rated so high despite such huge flaws in the only real thing that matters in a supplement. Would like to know what others think.

Definitely my favorite bar. It is the leanest bar I’ve been able to find and has a ton of protein. All of the flavors are 92% lean or better, every other bar on the market has a ton of fat compared to the amount you’re eating. This bar allows me to hit my daily macro targets much easier. Will definitely keep these around for when I can’t get a full meal. Also, I find most bars too sweet, these have the perfect sweetness level.

I'd probably eat this bar if it tasted like dog s#1t. Compared to the crap in the old days, this is like eating a candy bar. If you cupcakes out there are worried about taste, maybe you should be eating out in 5 star restaurants. Bottom line is this: I'm 57 years old and have been doing this the old school way for a long time. Put away the phone, get off the treadmill, use real weights & EAT.

I did a "blind buy" of these protein bars based on the nutrition facts. Only 4 grams of fat in the S'mores (much less than most protein bars), 33 grams of protein, and only 4 net carbs! The macro profile is outstanding! And I have to say, I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the taste. My favorite protein bars taste-wise are the Protein Plus bars by Met-Rx, and these Universal bars are a very close 2nd, but with better macros! Highly recommended. I'll be buying again. AND the price is good considering you get 16 bars per box.

I work in a job where we are not given scheduled breaks, we just eat when we can. For the weight, macro profile and calorie content this bar is easy and convenient for busy work days. It fits my needs. It does not make me feel gassy/bloated like some of the other protein bars do. I like the vitamin content and how filling the bar is. 8/10 because the flavor could be improved. There are better tasting bars out there.

I bought the S'mores bar from the website. It arrived with my Iron Dream in due time. Flavour was mild and pleasant, texture was smooth and chewy - like a taffy, and there was no fluff or filler like you sometimes get. 25% of basic vitamins, comparatively low in calories to other 30g protein bars, with a lower fat and carb ratio.

300 calories for me in a protein bar is a lot for me, I only added this so I could hit the $75 mark. Anyways, the bar itself wasn't bad, didn't really care for the taste but it did keep me satisfied for a long period of time. Ate it on an empty stomach at 0700 after being up since 0430 and it help me till lunch at 1200. I guess that is where the extra calories over my usual bars comes in.

One of the best tasting Bars out there, with its dark chocolate coating and soft core. I eat them for dessert almost every other day.

Great taste excellent nutritional profile, only 1 gram of sugar and fair protein to calorie ratio. I really liked this bar, the only downside is its mainly made of soy protein.

I would like to thank Universal Nutrition for sending me a box of Hi Protein Bars from their company promo thread. The protein bars that I buy the majority of the time are high protein/low carb bars. Hi Protein Bars only have a net of 7g of carbs and 1g of sugar. Sugar is my main concern when I read the nutritional label on a protein bar. These are not small bars that leave you feeling unsatisfied and the need to eat a second one. They are 85g bars that are very soft in texture so you will not be biting into a dry, hard piece of rock. I tried microwaving them to see if the chocolate brownie flavor would improve but the bar got dry and the taste got worse. From my experience, eat them out of the wrapper.

Nice nutritional profile for on the go, 33- g protein on average is excellent by protein bar standards and sits well on your stomach. Most of them are a chore to get in. They are paste-like and covered in chocolate not multiple layers, I have some pics in my forum review if you're interested. Top notch as always choc- pb tastes like a Three Musketeers, choc brownie is alright but like the S'mores it's a bit bright of a flavor.
