The best value for money vegan Leucine. Taste is fine; I can hardly taste it in my protein shake.
Rather than mess around with all the unnecessary ingredients and fluff in most BCAA powders, I choose to just take leucine. The flavor is terrible, but I was warned that it would be. I mix it with another powder anyway. It does what it should, and gets to the point.
You don't incorporate Leucine for the flavor; you add it to your BCAA stack because it's the best way to build your body. Leucine is essential to muscle growth and is essential retaining those hard earned gains when you are preparing for a contest or major event.
As serious supplement users should know, the benefits of bcaa supplementation can be overrated and are mostly justified when in a calorie deficit or training fasted. As well, hmb is superior to leucine/bcaa's in preserving muscle mass and muscle recovery. Having said that, leucine does have its uses and this product is the best bargain available and highly versatile.
If you are looking for a sweet sugary beverage for the end of your workout, this is not it. The taste is bitter and nasty but I find that mixed plain into water that a little lemon and lime juice masks it quite well. The leucine is clean and helps me feel recharged after an intense workout. Personally, I try avoid artificial sweeteners and this product is perfect for me because it is just leucine and nothing else.
Good clean Leucine. just wish I could find the darn scooper.
This is my favorite leucine ever.
Don't let the flavor rating fool you. When they said this stuff is the growth trigger, they were right! I've noticed some great gains in about 3 months since taking this. The dosing is so small, that you can barely taste it when you mix it in your protein post-workout.
Leucine, if you never took it start using it as soon as possible. I take my leucine before and after workout (5gr each), before with my bcaa's, creatine and arginine and after in my shake with protein and Glutamin. What I noticed is definitely more gains, less soreness and generally better feeling during my workouts. And as always, great price from Allmax!
I mean... it's leucine. I take it preworkout with a BCAA mix. It's not magical, but it does it's just (I workout fasted except for the BCAAs w/ leucine.) It doesn't really mix that well and if you blend it it gets foamy in a not great way, but I find it's not difficult to cover the flavor with just some splenda or lemon water and isn't noticeable (other than the foam) if you add it to other stuff. On it's own it has a weird taste, but it's not that bad. Still, I wouldn't drink it on its own if I had the choice.
The powder doesn't have any real taste to it. It is definitely best to mix in with your protein or pre/post workout drink. I have noticed that I am retaining more muscle mass and definition when I am not working out quite as hard. It really makes a good supplement to use with your other products.
Leucine is the king of amino acids. The taste is awful and doesnt mix well but gives amazing results. Recommended dosage is 3-5 g taken pre and post workout. I guess i am going to stick to my delicious xtend!
Firstly, I think BCAA supplementation around the workout is more important than just taking pure leucine. However, boosting up your post-workout shake with some leucine besides the BCAA might be a good idea. Isolated leucine elevates the blood leucine levels really fast, so it increases the activity of mTOR very effectively, which will lead to protein synthesis. Obviously, you can reach this state with a normal 2:1:1 BCAA product as well, but it will be quite expensive, if you want to take the same amount of leucine. Also, indeed you need the isoleucin and valine as well, but you don't necessary need that much. So if you take 5-5 grams of BCAA before and after workout, it may be good to add 5 more grams of leucine to your post workout drink - at least it works for me. There's not much to say about the product itself. It's unflavored leucine. Dissolves quite badly, tastes bad - as it should.
I add the leucine powder to every protein drink I take. My wife and I buy the raw powders and mix all of our workout drinks with the ingredients and quantities that we want. We stock a lot of supplements, but we never let the leucine run out.
