Before I started lifting, I was your average-sized teenager. Life was just there and I wasn't getting much out of it. I joined my high school swim team and that made me happier. Then I started really getting into swimming and wanted to do anything and everything to help me swim faster and crush the competition!
So, one weekend I went into my garage and dusted off the weight machine and weights my dad had bought me a few years back. I did a few flyes... "Hey, that wasn't so bad", I said to myself.
So I started using it more often, and then I finally got a membership to a gym and ever since that day, I've been hooked on bodybuilding! Now I apologize if that was too corny, but I think it's fun for bodybuilders to share their experiences and how they got started.
Hot Chicks Love Abs
Since I'm only a freshman in high school, I still take P.E. At the beginning of the year, my friends and I found these little P.E. shirts so we wore them that day in P.E instead of our normal big P.E. shirts. Everyone laughed at us. Then a few months later, I decided to try and wear it again. Dang - I could barely fit it on! (Shows what a little bodybuilding does for ya!)
When I went into the gym that day, no one laughed. The chicks just stood there checking me out and I think all the guys just pissed their pants! Even the coach was amazed at how big and built I was now. It's amazing how quick word like that spreads around school.
The next period, I had a whole group of chicks come up to me and ask to see my abs. Since I was rather proud of my gains, I lifted up my shirt. Let me tell you, aside from benching a personal best, I don't think there's anything better then a group of hot chicks just standing there smiling with their eyes fixed on you.
Heck, even the guys were all shocked that someone in their grade looks that good. Now all the guys respect you, and all the chicks adore you. Life is good!
I'm Not Gay, Punk
At my school, it's grades 7 through 12. I don't think there's anything more annoying then the weird little 7th graders. One day I was going into the weight room after school and some 7th grader and his friends were hanging outside the door to the gym.
So the little group leader comes up to me and starts talking smack. Then for some strange reason he calls me a bunch of names and says I'm gay. I don't like when I get called gay, so I pick him up off the ground by his shirt and asked, "Who did you just say was gay?" He was so scared that all he could say was, "I'm the gay one - not you!"
I said, "Now that we've straightened things up, I can get back to what I was doing." I put him down then started my workout. Heh heh.
Isn't flexing in front of the mirror great?! I love just doing a few poses and seeing my gains. Just by seeing my gains from lifting has shown me how important it is to work hard in school, so I will get rewarded with a good future and job. It also helps my self-esteem, which seems to drop now and then. Now, however, I don't think I'm useless and a waste on this earth!
You might be thinking that reading this article was a waste of your time, but it wasn't. It's important to share experiences and really see and think about what bodybuilding has done for us. It's also fun to look back at what we used to look and act like before we found our great secret, bodybuilding!
