Kris Gethin's Muscle-Building Trainer, Day 43
Kiss HIT goodbye, and say hello to something even more brutal: DTP Extreme. It's time to train your legs harder than ever with high reps and heavy weight!
This week kicks off DTP Extreme. All your days of conditioning have led to this one moment. After a full weekend of recovery, you should be ready and raring to go. If you're not, you'd better get ready—and fast!
DTP calls for you to basically ascend and then descend a full training pyramid. In other words, you go up in weight and down in reps until you reach failure at a heavy weight, and then reverse the process by going up in reps and down in weight until you hit failure again at a high number of reps. You'll see Gethin use this technique throughout today's workout and many to come.
After your superset of leg extensions and leg curls, you'll tuck into DTP Extreme. Using this training protocol, you'll match your rest periods with the number of reps you perform. In other words, you'll do 5 reps, rest for 5 seconds, do 10, rest for 10 seconds, and so on. Push yourself to reach 30 reps when you dig into the DTP Extreme exercises.

- Some hack squat machines can put your knees under tremendous stress. If the machine you're using does this, shorten your range of motion and stop at parallel.
- Start with heavy, compound movements like the leg press, then move on to isolation exercises such as hamstring curls and leg extensions.
- Use the rest-pause technique to catch your breath when fatigue sets in.
- Stay motivated by tracking your workouts, updating your photos, and blogging on BodySpace. Never look back; only forge forward.

The first day of DTPXtreme. Every day over the past 6 weeks had prepared me for this. I felt anxious and nervous as I drove to the gym. I knew my legs were going to break. It was like having a dislocation put back in place. You knew it was for the greater good but it was going to ****ing hurt.
Already on the first exercise I began to disintegrate. The dosage of pain overflowed from me until I could see my bones fragmenting. I needed reviving between every set to relive the torture. I couldn’t distinguish between my brain and body. One was taking it too far but the other somehow survived. My head felt like it was jolted and awoken on repeat. The pain dried up my thoughts, feelings and emotions and made my muscles feel safe and secured to die. My reps became a peaceful gathering of mass murderers taking my muscle fibers life slowly by draining its blood. I was on remote, hearing my screams internally pierce me while others outside looked on. I forgot about the future and the past because like pain, it never lasts. I took the pain away without telling it that it was easy or that it was hard, I just put my hand over its mouth, pulled its skull bag and removed any sign of weakness while filling it with hatred for it. I never wanted to be like anyone else. I lie to normality enough for it to hate me and turn against me. It’s the only way I can evolve. I have to kill it so it can kill the human in me. Then I can trade it for the KAGED MUSCLE – Part Animal Part Machine. It’s the only monster that can breed in an environment filled in lactic acid and the burning flesh that comes from this type of training.
Anyone reading this will think this is overdramatized. Biut people thought DTP was hard. DTPXtreme is another animal. Once you witness this video series, try to live in this and not hate it. I live in it and love it. .
