BodySpace: Amped Up Annelise
[ Q ] Tell us a little about yourself. What is your position at BB.com? How long have you worked here?
I'm a fun, spunky, "amped up" girl, and currently a customer service representative at Bodybuilding.com. I've worked at Bodybuilding.com since February, 2010. I graduated from Boise State in May with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion.
[ Q ] What was your workout/fitness/nutrition level before working at BB.com?
Before starting at BB.com I was really active, but I had never taken supplements and I never even attempted dieting. Actually, when I started at BB.com, I was just switching my workout plan from long-distance running and circuit training to focusing more on lifting weights to transform my body (which I'm still working on). In college I ran track for a year at the University of Redlands in California, was on the cheer squad for Boise State for 2 years, and was constantly training for different running events. In 2009, my mom and I ran 3 half marathons together! Our best time was a 1:48 at the See Jane Run "Run for Chocolate and Champagne" Half Marathon in June of 2009. We both finished first in our age groups, got 17th and 18th overall, and we even wore matching outfits! Running used to be all that I wanted to do... until I started working at BB.com and saw all of these fit BodySpace people. They really inspired me to start lifting so I could rock a toned body!

[ Q ] What does your workout routine consist of now?
I do four days of lifting weights a week and squeeze in cardio on my off days. This routine was actually what my fiance' (who's a trainer) and my workout partner Mindy (MC Hammer Curl on BodySpace) were lifting before she started training me. Here's the lifting spread:
- Monday: Chest/Biceps
- Tuesday: Off
- Wednesday: Back/Abs
- Thursday: Off or cardio
- Friday: Shoulders/Triceps
- Saturday: Off or cardio
- Sunday: Legs
[ Q ] Lifting Schedule?
I usually switch between light and heavy weeks. This helps with strength increases for me and I really like taking little breaks from lifting heavy. For each of the exercises listed below, I do 3 sets with 6-10 reps (heavy week) or 3-4 sets with 15-20 reps (light week).
Day 1: Chest/Biceps

Modified "7's" with Barbell:
- Full Bicep Curls: 1 set of 7 reps
- Full Bicep Curls: 1 set of 7 reps
- Lower Half Bicep Curls: 1 set of 7 reps

Day 7: Legs
[ Q ] What does your diet consist of now?
This is an example of a modified carb rotation diet (that I had a hard time maintaining because I get really cranky when I diet... in other words I have terrible will power) that was given to me by my former trainer Josh, who also works at BB.com (Jammin Josh on BodySpace). I modified it a bit so I can do it on a daily basis and not only love what I eat, but keep it clean.

[ Q ] What is it like working at BB.com? Does it create a helpful fitness environment?
I LOVE the environment at BB.com. My colleagues are all of my best friends. I've never seen a work environment like BB.com's. We play music, laugh, have a comfortable dress code, and we all share a passion for fitness so it makes me look forward to going to work. Our combined knowledge of health and fitness is really cool because we're always bouncing ideas and questions off each other. We learn new things and research everyday so we can provide the best customer service possible.
[ Q ] How does the Bodybuilding.com environment influence your health, fitness and appearance goals?
Bodybuilding.com is THE reason I'm working out and trying to get as fit as possible. Of course, I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it. When you work on a computer for 8 hours a day and see thousands of pictures of Jamie Eason and Jacquelyn Kay, it's hard to not want to look like them. We are so surrounded by fitness at work that it's important to emulate the fitness lifestyle so that we are practicing what we preach. You'd never buy personal training from a 300 pound guy would you? Probably not, unless he was 300 pounds lean and amazing like Kai Greene. But, for that reason... I think it's important for us to be fit and to take the supplements we advise our customers on so that we are giving them valid help and not just "product pushing" like many other companies. I want to make people feel like they had a real experience so I really try to live the healthiest life possible. BB.com is the reason for my goals.

[ Q ] What are your co-workers like?
I LOVE my coworkers. I think it's so fun that we have our wacky nicknames. All of my best friends work at BB.com, so it makes it really enjoyable to go to work. We are always laughing and having a good time. I have so much respect for everyone I work with because each of my coworkers brings a fun, fresh perspective to fitness.
[ Q ] Did someone from Bodybuilding.com inspire you to reach your goals?
I don't know if someone specific has inspired me, but I do know that there are specific people that have really supported me. Whether it's my occasional workout partner Leslie Shinn, my friend Kirk Calzacorta that gives me workout tips, or even my best friends Paula Grow, Kelli Ryder and Sheena Jester that are always telling me how great I'm doing, there's definitely a huge support system at BB.com.
[ Q ] Have you inspired others with your new look and attitude?
I'm not sure... but I hope so! There's a lady that works at the front desk of the Idaho Athletic Club by BB.com that told me once that I have a great back (which is a huge compliment to me). She also told me that she just entered into a fitness challenge so that she can tone up and get arms like mine! I could only hope to be "that cool" to be her inspiration. Maybe someday it will happen.

[ Q ] What is your favorite feature on the BB.com website?
I love the Exercise Guides on our website! Literally, there is EVERY exercise imaginable on there. Not only does it show you how to do each exercise, but it tells you each muscle worked by the exercise and even lets our customers rate them on effectiveness! If I ever need an extra exercise I head straight to the Exercise Guides for support.
[ Q ] How does BB.com help to motivate/support you?
BB.com helps motivate me because each time I assist a customer that wants to bulk, or lose weight, or just look into getting a decent multivitamin I do a consultation. Every consultation is different and hearing each person's story is so motivating and helps me keep up what I'm doing to make the changes I hope to make. It's amazing how much I learn from the people that call in! Just the other day a guy gave me a great orange protein shake recipe and another lady and I compared workout tips. Talking with people that are living the lifestyle I want to be living is a huge motivation.
[ Q ] Does practicing the bodybuilding lifestyle improve the productivity of Bodybuilding.com? If so, how?
No doubt about it. I find it hard to give advice about a product if I haven't taken it before. And for me, practicing the "bodybuilding" lifestyle doesn't mean living and breathing like Jay Cutler. It means supplementing with the right stuff, working out hard, and being informed on what I'm talking about. The more informed the employees of BB.com are about living a fit lifestyle, the more we're going to be able to cater to the people that visit our site. Like our mission says, it's all about "Information, Motivation, Supplementation," but how can we advise on it if we don't practice it ourselves? And that's exactly why we are so productive. Because we do live it. Each and every one of us.

[ Q ] What are your future goals? Do you think working for BB.com will help you reach them?
Some of my future goals and plans include getting married (June, 2011) and running a full marathon with my mom. Honestly, BB.com will not have a big influence on the wedding... but on my marathon running? Yes. There are so many things I'm learning about the way I train from reading our articles and BB.com helps me reach my small and big goals everyday. BB.com is a great place to be. There's so much potential here and I can't wait to see what happens!
