Why I Got Started
I was tired of yo-yo dieting, losing then gaining the weight back, taking diet pills, or just not eating at all. After my daughter was born in 2003 I got up to 189 pounds. Between 2003 and 2007 my weight was up and down non-stop. I went from taking diet pills, to not eating, to eating everything in sight. I had to do something.
In 2006 I met Josh Stroud, owner of J's Personalized Training in Fort Worth. I spoke with Josh and he looked at me and said, "I can have you where you want to be in 3 months but you have to be patient and consistent."

Weight Back, Taking Diet Pills, Or Just Not Eating At All.
Mind you, at the time that I spoke with Josh I had dropped my weight down to 130 pounds (again, in a unhealthy way) and I wasn't sure if I could afford a personal trainer. I didn't want to be a skinny fat person but I couldn't afford the fees at that time.
A year went by and I packed on another 20 - 25 pounds. I had to make the sacrifice. I needed Josh's help. I began working out with Josh every day during my lunch. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I lifted and did cardio. Tuesday and Thursdays was cardio alone.
I dropped some weight, probably about 15 pounds, but I had one problem. I wasn't being consistent with my clean eating. I would sneak and eat junk food, then feel guilty when I had to get on the scale. Finally Josh looked at me and said, "what are you doing? You workout like a mad woman but you eat like a junkie. What are you going to do?"
The disappointment in his eyes made me cry. But did I change my eating habits and become consistent? No. Not until I came cross Bodybuilding.com.
How I Did It
In early March I joined Bodybuilding.com and my motivation just took off. I spent hours on the website at night, reading all the success stories, looking at the amazing transformations, and wondering, why can't that be me?
I found a lot of women on Bodybuilding.com who had children. I even saw one that had 6 kids. She did it, so why can't I? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, "You can do this Christi, Josh has told you so many times that you have the heart and the drive, you just need the discipline and the commitment." I decided right then and there that I wanted to transform my body and compete.

I talked with my husband that night, he said "go for it." Monday, March 22, I talked with Josh, and told him I wanted to compete. Josh looked at me with a face as if to say, yeah right, so I said it again. When he realized I was serious, his face lit up like a Christmas tree.
It was amazing to watch my body change. Bodybuilding.com kept me motivated and I met amazing people. I remember my first blog, I posted my food journal for the day. I thought I was doing so well, counting my calories and everything. Wrong!
I didn't know how much protein to eat, and how much fat and carbs not to eat. Man, did I get some feedback that day. I think I had like 95 grams of protein that day and the Bodybuilding.com family came to my rescue.
I took progress pictures to keep me focused and reading the articles helped me with my eating. Eating was a problem for me because I am a lover of junk food. I buckled down and dropped the weight. I went from 152 pounds and 23.7% body fat to 128 pounds and 14% body fat.
I competed in my first show on August 29 at a weight of 121 pounds. I placed 4th. I wasn't too happy with that so now I am gearing up to do it all again. I've built a lot of muscle so I won't have to work as hard, but more importantly, I've learned a lot from Josh and the friends I've made on Bodybuilding.com.
No stopping me now! Competing is what I want to do and I know I will continue to build, learn and make my dreams come true.

Suggestions For Others
If I could give one piece of advice it would be to stay consistent and be patient. The weight didn't come on over night, and it will not go away over night.
Surround yourself with like minded positive people (Bodybuilding.com is a great tool) and know that you don't have to be a movie star to have the body you want. All you need is a made up mind.
