David Sloniegura

Background

In the ever growing and changing fitness industry, David Sloniegura is on his way to making his mark as a well-known forerunner. With a degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University, several exercise-related certifications (including the National Fitness Leadership advisory committee (NFLAC), Weider enterprises, and the American Council on Exercise (ACE)), an arsenal of courses from the school of Dietetics and Human Nutrition at McGill University, and over 8 years of experience as an exercise specialist, David has managed to establish quite a name for himself as a personal fitness trainer and fitness columnist.

Exercise and nutrition go hand-in-hand when it comes to overall health and well-being, and David makes sure he keeps himself up-to-date by constantly seeking knowledge in the exercise field, while keeping abreast of the latest nutrition trends. Originally from Montreal, Canada, David recently relocated to Albany, NY in order to expand his career opportunities. Working with men and women from different walks of life, he helps get professionals such as doctors, lawyers and accountants into shipshape, as well as housewives, artists and officeworkers.

Becoming a fitness columnist seemed a matter of chance more than anything. Although he had already written a couple of small columns for a local magazine in Montreal, it was not until he had been to Chicago that he had managed to start up his 'Eye on Fitness' column, which he then brought to Toronto and Montreal, under different names. From that point on, he has written articles for various magazines throughout the United States, Canada, and London (England)- including Men's Exercise and Genre magazine. He now frequently contributes fitness articles to the Troy Record newspaper in Upstate New York.

With the help of the CLSC (Centre Locale de Services Communautaires-a health-care facility) in Montreal, David has been able to give lectures and train elderly people suffering from osteoarthritis and people with HIV. This has in turn opened up doors for him in terms of reaching a larger audience and expanding his knowledge, to which he is grateful.

David is hoping to reach an even larger audience by honing his skills in front of the camera. He has put together a core-fitness class called "Ab-Natomy" which he hopes to release on video by the end of the year.
