BodySpace is more than a social networking outlet to help people achieve their fitness goals. Being a part of the world's largest fitness community can potentially give some lucky person the big break into the fitness industry that they've been waiting for.

A perfect example of this is a man named Antonio Wright. Since 2004, the Maryland native has been a part of the one million-plus BodySpace populace. In that time he has been in ads for Bodybuilding.com, and was even been featured in the book "Body by Design" for his incredible transformation.

But for Antonio, it's about more than just breaking into the fitness industry, it's about health. He inspired so many people throughout his journey because he accomplished the one thing they yearn for, getting fit. More than 1,300 people have acknowledged Antonio as a BodySpace member who inspires them - that's a huge impact!

Mr. Wright can now add another accomplishment to his already impressive fitness resume as the newest BodySpace Member of the Month.

What made you realize that you needed to get in shape?

Well, I have always had "issues" with my weight. I was a large child and didn't really go outside too much. As I grew older, my weight wasn't an issue at all. I was always considered "big boned" and had a stocky build. I started to put on weight when I began working full time.

My daily schedule consisted of:

  1. Waking up and eating some bread and about a pound of bacon.
  2. Before work, I would get a pastry and a large iced coffee full of sugar and cream.
  3. Some form of carryout food at dinner.
  4. When I got off work at midnight, I would get another iced coffee and pastry.

It got so bad that the employees at the local Dunkin' Donuts (yes, it was more than one place) knew me by name. Plus, they would have my order ready.

All during this time, I had self confidence; I never had any problems with my image or the opposite sex. However that changed after I was told that I was "too fat to be with someone." That just enraged me.

That's when I made a vow to myself. I said: "Self, you will never be told that you're too fat, or uneducated." And that's when I started my change…

What kind of changes have you made since you made that decision?

First and foremost it has been nutrition. I can write a novel regarding all the different plans I have gone through. I went from high carb to low, then to no carb, back to moderate carbs, and now to high carbs. Just like millions of others, I was a carb hater.

Over the years I have learned it's not carbs but what kind of carb you consume, especially for an endomorfo/mesomorfo hybrid like me.

How did you discover BodySpace?

I have had a forum account since 2004. It was only natural to create a BodySpace account. At that time BodySpace was still in Beta (I think) and I looked at it as something different from MySpace.

How do you think BodySpace has helped you reach your goals?

I remember getting my first words of encouragement from a user named "The Normal Man". It's sad over the years that many of the "originals" have become inactive. However, that in itself shows the ups and downs in life. Just because they are inactive, it doesn't mean they have stopped living a fit lifestyle. They could have just moved on to other things …

Other than the comments, I would have to say the pictures. I am talking about just a before and an after picture. I mean, that is cool and all, but what about in between? That is why I took it upon myself to take as many pictures as possible.

The real journey is not reaching the goal; it's what you do between your start and your finish.

What is your favorite muscle group to train?

Currently it's legs. I don't know if it's due to muscle maturity, but I am finally getting the size I want.

What are your favorite supplements?

I have recently become a fan of the products from SciVation. They keep their product line simple. That doesn't mean I don't use my staple brand, Optimum Nutrition.

Someone will read this feature and consider joining BodySpace. Why should they become a part of the world's largest fitness community?

The sheer number of inspiring profiles alone is more than enough. When I don't feel like training, I just log on and look. That is all it takes.

The information and most importantly the support is there. The people here will hold you accountable and that made my transformation so much easier.

Is there anything you would like to add or say to your fellow BodySpace members?

You may say I am a nerd, but I love anything space related. If you happen to see footage of a space shuttle launching in slow motion, you will see that just seconds after liftoff the shuttle is motionless. Then the rockets reach full boost and up it goes.

The same goes for anything we do in life, especially fitness. We're all going to stumble, trip up and fall. However, you will reach your goal if you continue.
