[ Q ] Where are you from and how old are you?

    My dad was in the Navy, so we moved a lot. But I call Garner, N.C. home. That's where my Mom and Dad live now. I am 30.

[ Q ] What do you do for a living?

    Right now I am a stay at home mom for my sweet little boy, the best job in the world!

    My husband is in the Coast Guard and travels often, so it just works best.

[ Q ] How did you find out about BodySpace?

    My husband, he was a member before me. One day I asked him what he was doing on the internet and he showed me the site, I was hooked after that. So much great information and motivation.

[ Q ] You made such an amazing transformation. What made you decide to get in such great shape?

    About three years ago my sister was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. While helping her through her treatment I became aware of the links between cancer and the hormones found in cheese, meat, and poultry. We were shocked!

    Her doctor looked at me and said, "Young lady, if you don't change and eat differently you have a high chance of getting this cancer also". At that moment I made my mind up; I have to be here for my son for as long as I can, so I changed the way I ate and started feeling great!

    Then I started thinking... I always wanted to be strong and fit, so I joined the gym. Six months later I was seeing results and loving what was happening to my body. I was hooked! My sister is doing great and her cancer is in remission. I don't know what I would do without her!

[ Q ] What is a typical day like for you?

  • 6:30 AM - Wake up, eat and get my son up and ready for school.
  • 9:00 AM - Hit the gym for an hour or two depending on what I'm doing.
  • 11:00 AM - Eat, shower, and run errands.
  • 1:45 PM - Have a snack then pick my son up from school.
  • 3:30 PM - Help my son with homework and make dinner.
  • 5:00 PM - Have dinner and hangout with family.
  • 8:00 PM - Watch a show or two with my hubby and relax.
  • 10:00 PM - Bedtime. I love to get good sleep!

[ Q ] What is the most important thing you have learned so far on your fitness journey?

    I know people hear this all the time, but diet is key! I just feel it's the truth and the most important thing I have learned! If you don't eat clean, you are wasting your time at the gym. Plain and simple, who wants to waste all that hard work and time?

[ Q ] Do you train alone or do you have a coach?

    Right now I train alone but I trained with " JPhillips17" on BodySpace for about a year and in preparation for the BodySpace Spokesmodel Contest in 2008. He was great and I learned a lot from working with him; plus it was nice to have someone else plan my workouts for me.

[ Q ] If I opened your refrigerator, what would I find?

[ Q ] Have you inspired any people in your circle of friends and family to get in shape who have seen your transformation?

    Yes. I like to think so. Several family members have lost weight and started eating better, which is the coolest thing ever! If I can inspire others to better themselves and get healthy, that makes me want to work harder and help more people!

[ Q ] Do you have any future plans for fitness goals or events?

    Keep at it and if something comes up I want to try, DO IT!! Never give up and each day push myself a little harder.

[ Q ] How do you handle social events when everyone is eating nothing but crap?

    I usually eat before I go and use that as an out when offered unhealthy food. If they have it, I will nibble on a veggie platter or sneak a snack I have stuffed in my purse.

[ Q ] If you have a day where you don't feel like doing your workout, how do you get yourself moving?

    I think about how I feel after I workout, refreshed and accomplished! Even if I don't push myself as hard as I would have, I still get satisfaction knowing I went and tried. And sometimes I can just put some music on and I'm pumped!

[ Q ] What are some favorite songs you have on your iPod?

[ Q ] What do you think holds people back from achieving their fitness goals?

    Thinking they can't do it and that they will fail, which is so far from the truth! Anyone can do it. You just have to focus and push yourself! Don't give up if you don't see results in a few weeks. It also takes time... But if you keep at it you will see that you can achieve all your fitness goals!

[ Q ] If you could go anywhere in the world where you would go and why?

    I would go back to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. My family was stationed there when I was a teenager and I loved it! So many great memories.
