How Did You Get Started?

I have been weight training for about 6 years. I was always involved in sports so I have always stayed in pretty good shape. I was a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader in 1999 and 2000. I had to stay in good shape for that!! I always knew I wanted to take the next step in fitness- to compete. Being involved with the buccaneers took a lot of time and dedication, so I didn't have a whole lot of extra time.

After my last season with the Buccaneers in 2000 I knew I was ready to take that step. I turned to my friend and mentor Debbie Frasina. Debbie and her husband Mark own T.B.T. (Total Body Training) Gym here in Clearwater, Fl. I met Debbie 2 years prior and worked with her on nutrition programs for various goals I wanted to attain. When I met Debbie and Mark I never realized the road of success they would help me achieve. I picked a show 12 weeks out for my first show, The Las Vegas Classic on Sept. 29, 2001. I competed in the figure division and took 5th place. I was happy with my success in the show but knew I could improve a few things and do better. My next show was set for the Tampa Bay Classic on June 8, 2002. I again prepared 12 weeks out and competed in the figure division. This time I took 1st place. I was very excited! I am in the beginning of my fitness career, but feel very fortunate for the success I have had. I owe much of my success to Debbie, she dedicated a considerable amount of time to mine and all of her other competitors contest preparation from beginning to end. "Thank you Debbie!!"

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I have tried numerous variations of workouts. I got really good results with training 1 to 2 body parts a day in split training A.M. and P.M. I did cardio 30min a day 6-7 days a week, closer to the show it would be double cardio 7 days a week. I trained calves and abs every other day usually in my evening workout. In order to get good shaped glutes I would do inner and outer thigh machines, as many butt blasters I could find 2-3 times a week and made sure to get on the gauntlet for at 4 of my cardio sessions. I alternate my workout from lifting heavy, to lifting light, to supersetting exercises.

An example of a weeks workout:

A.M. P.M.
Mon. quads/cardio hamstrings/glutes
Tues. chest cardio/calves,abs
Weds. back/cardio triceps
Thurs. cardio/glutes abs/calves
Fri. shoulders/cardo biceps
Sat. quads/cardio hamstrings/glutes
Sun. cardio abs/calves

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I always take a Multivitamin and mineral. I think that is very important with a restricted diet. Glutamine is another favorite of mine to keep your muscles full and hard. Protein powders are a given, I like Designer, (vanilla cake is to die for), and for meal replacements I like Myoplex. I also use CLA and a thermogenic (lipodryl).

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I enjoy this sport for more than one reason. This sport takes a lot of dedication, self-discipline, and hard work. I enjoy this sport for the challenge, dedication, self- discipline and hard work it takes to win. Its definitely not easy and at some times I have asked myself "what am I doing" at those moments when your about to lose your mind because your carb depleted and tired. But nothing beats the feeling you get when you walk out on that stage and all you hard work and preparation shows. Its a feeling you just can't explain!

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

At this time in my life I am beginning my career as a Firefighter-EMT currently in Paramedic school which will take a lot of time and dedication. So I am looking to wait until next year 2003 and get into a national qualifier and hopefully on to the nationals next November. IFBB is turning Pro Figure Division in 2003 and that is definitely one of my goals.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

If you set achievable goals and always strive to achieve them you will always be successful. One thing I have learned in life is to never give up! If you fall get back up and keep going, if you make a mistake learn from it and move on tomorrow is a new day. We are all given opportunities in life, take advantage of the ones you are given!! "Don't sell yourself short, if you can make a difference in your life...DO IT!" Always live healthy!!
