How Did You Get Started?
I began lifting weights at the age of 16. I started lifting plastic weights with sand in them, and eventually moved to the iron in a friend's basement. Throughout high school and college, I went to the gym on a regular basis. My passion for fitness and bodybuilding grew in graduate school, and I have been training ever since.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
My workout split looks something like this:
- Sunday - Chest
- Monday - Back
- Tuesday - Hamstrings, Cardio
- Wednesday - Rest
- Thursday - Shoulders, Calves, Cardio
- Friday - Triceps, Biceps, Forearms
- Saturday - Quads, Cardio
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I would have to say that protein powder is the staple of any supplement program. I choose Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein, for I feel it's the best price for a good quality protein. I also feel that MCT oil has really helped me add much needed calories to my nutrition program not only in the off season, but also during carb depletion before a contest.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
The main reason I love bodybuilding is because it gives me the drive and focus to accomplish anything in life. I am much more organized, motivated, and productive when I am training for a bodybuilding competition. Everything just seems to fall into place with bodybuilding.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I have been an amateur bodybuilder for the past two years. Right now, I plan on resting and recuperating after winning my WNBF Pro-Card in the Southern States Classic last weekend! Then, I will compete in my first professional competition towards the end of this year.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Consistency is key in this sport - whether you are talking workouts, nutrition, supplementation, or rest. Those who succeed in bodybuilding are the ones who know their priorities and don't let anything get in the way.
