The OCB Battle For The Swords took place on Saturday, September 16th at the new Circuit City Ballroom on the Southside of Pittsburgh. Sword Promoters Roger & Beth Duchon used this as a trial run for this year’s Yorton Cup that will also promote and will take place at this location. The venue was a perfect setting and it was a fantastic show featuring 42 of the area’s top athletes and 24 crossovers.
The figure competition kicked off with 5 classes of very tight competitors trying for the top spots. There were many new faces all of which were in tip top condition and put on quite a good show. A stunning and elated Jamie Gilbert won the Open Figure Overall and secured her IFPA Pro Card.
With many competitors holding back and waiting to compete at the Yorton Cup, the Women’s BB classes were small but power packed with muscle. The tightest competitor, Melanie Grubisha, won both the Novice and the Women’s Open 1st Place and Overall title and took home the Pro Card.
The Men’s Bodybuilding was extremely competitive stacked with 11 very competitive divisions. There was much fierce competition especially in the Open Men’s classes. The Overall and IFPA Pro Card went to the shredded Bantam 1st place winner, Joe Franco, who had phenomenal symmetry and blasted muscle from head to toe.
The competition ran very smooth and promoter Roger Duchon felt it was one of his best so far. He would like to thank the OCB team of judges and ALL of the outstanding competitors. He also sends a very special thanks to God for making everything possible.
With the success of this show we are definitely looking forward to the OCB Yorkton Cup being hosted in Pittsburgh on November 4th 2006! You won’t want to miss it!
