How Did You Get Started?
When I turned 39, I decided I needed to get into shape. Both My Father and Grandfather passed away in their 50's from Diabetes. I want to be around in my 60's and 70's to see my future Grandchildren! I used bodybuilding as my goal and when I was 40, I won our province's Novice competition in two categories; Masters and my weight class.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I train one major body part per day and train 5 days a week off-season and contest time use the same workout but do cardio seven days a week and often 2 times a day.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I work with Vince Wawryk (past amateur of the week) and he designs my diet plan for me. It is a clean with 2 cheat days off-season. In season I only get one cheat meal once a week up to 3 weeks out. The clean diet includes carbs like oatmeal, yams, rice and rice cakes. The protein includes lean meat like chicken breasts and extra lean ground beef, tuna and protein shakes. As you can see it is a low fat diet and one my cheat days I usually eat a big fat t-bone.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Protein powder is the key one for me. It allows me to get all my required calories of protein, because eating all those calories is tough!
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
My wife Julie and I both do the sport together and it has made our marriage stronger. She is the current 2006 Light weight champ here in Sask. I have made several excellent friends in the sport and love going to see my buds at Fit Zone and Gold's here in Regina. I receive tons of support from several members.
I love the sport because I know I will never be Mr. Olympia so my goal is to improve each year. I don't worry about the judging in our sport because if on my last training day before a contest if I look better than my last show I won. Plan and simple! Also I fell I'm a positive role model for my son who is my biggest fan!
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I want to pack on some more size and return to the Canadian Nationals. I love being on stage and I will be at the 2007 Sask. Provincials to defend my 2006 Masters title. I also want to train others in a few year once I gain more real life experience. I see a lot of trainers who take a few weekend courses but know nothing about training. I believe real life experience is a much better teacher.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Hire a trainer/coach! I have trained with some excellent people over my 4 years in the sport and I learned something from every one of them. I have been with my current coach, Vince Wawryk, for the past year and a half and I have made my best gains. A good coach can allow you to focus on your training and during contest time can be honest with you as we all know we see ourselves different than others do when you're low on carbs. I would also like to thank my past coaches Brian & Donna, Logue, Darcy Walby and Greg Lowe.
