How Did You Get Started?

I always tried to keep in shape at home by doing a few select exercises, running, and doing some laps in the pool during the summer. I recently owned a bakery, which took all my time, and even on days when I worked 24 hours (excluding the time for me to run home, get a shower, and change my clothes) I would still have to do those exercises, even if it was for only 15 minutes.

It actually felt good to do squats or leg lifts while I was standing and mixing up my cakes and cookies. I then sold the bakery, and my best friend, Sherri, and I went on a trip to Key West where we ate right, walked, and rode bikes everywhere we went. I felt so good and so healthy. When we came home, my brother gave us both a free month's membership to the gym that he won in a golf tournament. A year later, and I'm still there.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I love doing yoga, and try to incorporate it in my schedule as much as I can. As far as cardio goes, on occasion, I will do some biking and running. I try to add different exercises throughout the week to target different muscles even if I had already worked on the same area previously. I'll try anything once, no matter how silly it looks, and if I can feel a muscle moving then I know it must be working for me.

I personally feel that to make anything work for you, you have to know how to listen to your body. If you are mentally, physically, and spiritually in-tune with yourself and connected to a higher source, you will know what you need. Your body will tell you what to eat and not to eat, what supplements will work for you, and whether you need more cardio, more rest, or more concentration.

Just because something works for someone else does not mean that it is going to work for you. By helping other people, we usually end up helping ourselves. It's not all about how you look on the outside, it's about how you feel inside, and when you are healthy, not only does your body love you back; it gives you more energy to love everyone and everything around you. Meditate, be one with God, and only good can happen!

I eat a wheat free diet that consists of plenty of fruit, vegetables, and almonds.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love being healthy and feeling healthy. What we do with our bodies and what we put into it saturates the aura around us. We can choose to throw off a luminescent bright light or we can choose to throw off an awful lot of darkness. Our body is the temple and what dwells in us, shines through us.

We have the free will to make it work for us or against us. It takes time and dedication, but it is always worth all the effort when the new energy travels throughout the body.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

I have never judged anyone by their outer appearance. I accept people for who they are and their inner true being. However, when it comes to myself, the mirror is not always my best friend. There is always a need to change and improve everything I see.

There are things that we can never change about ourselves, which makes it even more important to change the things that we are capable of changing. It's the whole mind body connection. You have to have both to be whole. Being happy with yourself is a big motivator, especially for me.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

There comes a point in our lives when we know we are not getting any younger. I have definitely reached that point. I know that when we do not take care of our bodies, our age shows tremendously.

I know I can't slow time, but I can feel younger and hopefully appear younger if I do my best to take care of myself. I know that this healthy lifestyle I have been living will have to continue for a very long time, and I can not only accept that fact, but plan on striving to set and meet higher goals for myself.
