How Did You Get Started?

As a result of a car accident in 1999, I broke 2 vertebrae in my back. After being bed ridden for 9 weeks, and a gain of 23 lbs, I was not the same person. I was very depressed and terribly out of shape! As a birthday gift in 2002 my boyfriend took me to the GNC BodyRock.

Sitting in the auditorium watching those beautiful women on stage... I knew I had to do this! So I enlisted the help of one of the best, Kim Oddo. In 13 weeks we transformed my body and spirit. On July 12th, 2003, my 33rd birthday, I placed 5th at the 2003 GNC BodyRock Figure competition. A few short weeks later, I took 1st at the Europa Figure Championship. That was it! I was hooked! Kim and I are now focusing on the 2004 competition year!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

During the off season, I'm focused on gaining the muscle needed to compete and that means heavy weights, low reps. I work Back & Shoulders together, then Chest & Arms, and then Legs. It's a 2 on - 1 off - 1 on - 2 off schedule. This gives my body plenty of time to rest and recover. Pre-contest I change the focus to one body part a workout, with 5 days of 2, 45 min cardio sessions. Kim Oddo constantly changes my workouts to keep my muscles fresh and challenged.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

My diet right now consists of approximately 50% protein, 20% carbs, and 20% fat. As competition season approaches it will change to more of 40/20/30 diet. Kim is a believer in feeding the body, but feeding it the proper foods to fuel the fire.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

L-Glutamine, BCAAs, and whey protein have all been significant in my progress. They have all aided in my recovery over the past year of serious training. Supplements in general are definitely a welcome addition to my new life in fitness.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love the feeling of pushing my body and mind to the next level. I believe that when you are healthy in your mind and spirit, the body will follow. Mostly... my 13-year-old son thinks I'm pretty cool. What more reason do I need than that?

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I have several competitions planned for 2004, including returning to the BodyRock stage in July. I'm working on creating my website, and have recently begun working on designing and creating competition suits.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Believe in yourself! There is no mountain to high or valley to low that you can't over-come. When you believe, others will as well. When you are on stage, smile like you are up to something... others will really notice. Most of all... have fun! It will show.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Monica Brant is the epitome of grace and beauty. She encourages and inspires me, without even trying. Newcomer Danitza Den is my rock. She is an amazing woman, so beautiful, and so supportive. Jenny Worth's dedication reminds me that through God, all things are possible.
