How Did You Get Started?

One day I just said you know what, I want to look better and feel better about myself, and set a good example for my clients. So I said I think I will do a fitness competition.

So just like that I started my research on what fitness competition I would do and started my workout program, hired someone to do my diet, however I didn't do my home work on that aspect and that almost landed me in the hospital.

The diet given to me did not have enough essential fats in it; I was very sick and asked a friend who is a natural bodybuilder to help me since I was lost at this point. The diet to a competition is half the work, I knew if I didn't get a good meal plan soon I wouldn't get to do my show. I wasn't about to let anything stop me. Ironically he was once on Bodybuilder for Amateur of the Week, Graham Reay. With in just a few weeks I was back to feeling normal and having energy for my workouts, the rest is history.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Day 1: Legs

Day 2: Shoulders/Triceps/Abs

Day 3: Back/Biceps/Calves

Day 4: Chest/Thighs

Day 5: Legs

Day 6: Abs/Arms

Day 7:Cardio

I do cardio every day 35 Minutes 4 weeks out before show. I do this program for the next 4 weeks, and then change it again.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

6:30 am:

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Really the only thing I have used is my Gold Standard Whey and my Gold Standard Casein protein shakes. Maybe down the road as I keep competing I will try new supplements. I also love my NO Xplode for energy; it really pushes me through my leg workouts.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love the way I feel after a great work out, I feel strong, and sexy. I know it's good for me, and when I am working out I really get a lot of stress out. I feel I am making a difference by leading a healthy lifestyle, so maybe someone not so healthy will see me and think, "Hey, maybe I can do that too."

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

Well, I am a personal trainer or lifestyle fitness coach as I like to call myself, and I need to lead by example. By taking my work out's up a notch by competing, it show's my clients that hard work, a healthy clean diet and sacrifice pay off. It motivates them to push harder and not to give up, when they get discouraged they see my results and they keep pushing. At the end of the day I really like feeling and looking healthy. I want to be getting down when I am older, not falling down.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

I wanted to see if I had what it takes to compete. It takes a lot of hard work, a lot of alone time in the gym, and the diet, well you have to give up a lot. I wanted to push myself harder than I have ever pushed myself. I am hooked.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I am so excited I am doing my second fitness show in April. In fact April 24th for the NPC Charlotte Cup. It's a national qualifier. From there I plan to place in the top 3, since in my last show I took third, and then go on to a national show and compete there. I want my IFBB pro card in the Bikini Division. I know it will be hard work since I am older, but I know if I train hard I can do it.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Find yourself a mentor; someone who trains hard or competed. It's so important to have someone to answer all the questions that you may have or someone to give you a push or word of encouragement. Also, do your homework on diet and nutrition and listen to your body.

What Features Do You Use On

When I first got started I would use the For Women tab, and get workout and diet tips. I still use them to get new ideas to train my clients, I like to switch things up and it's a great resource for what works and what's new.I also did my research on upcoming fitness shows and I would check out who competed in what competition and how did they did.
