How Did You Get Started?
I was tired of being the tall, skinny kid who was "good" at sports. I had always seen Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman's massive frames on magazines and thought how much hard work it took to get like that. I loved the look and realized I wanted to become the huge kid who strived to be "great" at bodybuilding.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I train five days a week. I normally keep it limited to 14-18 sets per body part and 6-10 reps per set.
My split is like this:
Tuesday - Off
Wednesday - Delts
Thursday - Arms
Friday - Quads / Hamstrings
Saturday - Off
Sunday - Back and light Biceps
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I am currently training for my first contest. So you could say I have been bulking nonstop. However, to still remain lean, I eat a lot of chicken, tuna, and salmon. I love cottage cheese and sweet potatoes as well. I weigh about 240, so generally my protein intake is just upwards of 300 grams per day. My carbohydrate intake is around 500- 550 per day.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I haven't experimented that much with supplements like creatine or NO2No2. However, my greatest gains have come off of Vyo Tech's Viraloid and 17-HD. Also, a supplement that I believe is discontinued was a product called Meta-Cel. Back when I began bodybuilding, my mom bought it for me and it really helped me start to get my frame proportionate.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
This is my favorite question. I love bodybuilding because I enjoy everything about it. I love eating right, I love seeing myself grow and seeing my physique altered. I believe it is the greatest sport due to the strict training and diet regimens, as well as the other things that are involved such as sleep, supplement intake, timed nutrition, etc.
I love how people react when I go in public. I enjoy the positive and negative feedback I get from people. Bodybuilding shows that you are a self-disciplined and dedicated individual.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I have my first show, the Michigan Novice, in March of '07. I plan to continue bodybuilding for as long as possible. I have a great start and it would be a shame to let this go to waste. God has given me great genetics. Why not take advantage of that?
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
You're not always going to look how you want. One day you will feel pumped and look as hard as a rock. The next day, you might feel inferior to other as the gym. You have to realize that it is all up to you to reach your goals. It is your decision whether to eat that burger, or stick with a sweet potato. Bodybuilding is an individual sport, and how you train and eat will effect how you look. Stay focused on your goal and let nothing stand in your way.
